There's such a disconnect between the cinema world and the mainstream broadcast/gossip/whatever else world, ain't there? It feels like he's talked about as much as a Clooney, a Pitt in cinema headquarters, but that he still barely registers recognition for the layman. How many times did journalists write "actor on the brink of global superstardom" from 2008-today? And still, I'm not sure he's being groomed as the next movie star. Not yet convinced that Leo still won't get first round dibs on all the best scripts in town with all the first-rate directors that come in hand. (I'm hoping that I'm really wrong). And Blueberry, I also think he'd have a marvelous take on Hamlet - he's got the gravitas for it. He'll just need to wear a padded bodysuit for a more thunderous stance ;)

In any case, thanks Clooney, for the free advertisement, and for keeping the shout-outs in the Fox Searchlight family (Pitt - Tree of Life / Fassbender - Shame), you sneaky devil. Tom Rothman and Nancy Utley will be proud!

I´d really like to see Fassy as Hamlet.

Wouldn´t he be wonderful?

Excellent idea. I know he prefers cinema over theatre, but I'd love for him to have a career similar to Ralph Fiennes or Michael Sheen.

Michael needs to take a look at Skarsgard and take notes on how to wear a suit properly. If a giant like Alex can find a proper fitting suit, there's no excuse for Michael :p

Askars looks great in that suit. Wouldn't have minded a photo of Fassy B and Aksars. I think you wrote that they were at the same party.

Couldn't agree more. The comment about the Fassdong was tacky, but I'm sure it'll drive lots of curious people to the cinema to watch Shame. And that's exactly why Clooney will win the Oscar as well. Nobody knows how to play the Hollywood game as he does. Well done Georgie.

I don't think Fassy needs a bodysuit. Gustaf Skarsgard is also a skinny boy and he was marvelous as Hamlet.

Since I'm talking about the Skarsgard men, may I just mention that Stellan was fabulous in Girl with the... And also when they mentioned Rooney Mara's name in the same category as Streep, Holt and Swinton it made me chuckle. Her performance was no way near as good as the others as far as I'm concerned.

I was so annoyed that E! didn't interview. Michael got very small outlets and it's not fair.

I was surprised at his lack of appearance anywhere, but honestly, I think it's probably a result of a lack of personal publicist (who are known to be ****ing pushy and do all means to get their client's name out to the world -- Blake Lively, Jessica Biel & Alba anyone?). Sometimes the really deserving talent don't get the line shone on them -- right off the top of my head, I can think of Gary Oldman, Tom Hardy, John Hawkes. But it also has to do with the same talent themselves not especially needing an urge to have the light shone on them too ...

Oh, you didn't like her performance? Too bad, I thought the opposite. I went into the cinema all judgmental and looking for an excuse to look down on the Rapace impersonator, but I thought all actors were commendable. Of course, it depends on one's view of how Lisbeth's inner core should be portrayed.

And I had a major case of envy for Daniel Craig's wardrobe , and loved the shabby chic interior décors of the chalet/office/apartments/Martin's house (I kept on thinking of Redzepi's Noma for some reason). Bagberry, Blueberry, is it a good depiction of Scandinavian essence? Anyway, the only thing that tickled me was the massive amount of blatant product placement.

Me too. I thought he would have gotten more exposure after the pas few months. He did arrive pretty late though and he was by himself instead of with the Shame team, which doesn't help either.

Did he get there late? I had a feeling based on the Tilda Swinton anecdote that he was pretty early, or at least not fashionably late.

But the lad's in good company: whether it is the NBR, LAFCA or Globes, he's surrounded by people way higher in the echelon than just the Shame PR team -- Michael Barker and Tom Bernard, the co-CEOs of Sony Picture Classics at NBR and he was flanked at the table by Rothman, head honcho and Nancy Utley, president of marketing of Fox Searchlight. Not bad for a publicist-less actor :graucho::graucho:
