Here is the interview: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/gallery/thrs-awards-season-roundtable-series-265450

I got some serious second-hand embarrassment from watching this interview. The pathetic reaction of the other directors was infuriating. 'I don't know', was the only thing they could say. BS!!

Right, huh? :pout: I still admire their work but their reactions drove me mad too that day. What a f#cked up world are we livin' in? :shame:
And the worse is that they probably won't do a thing about it after that embarrassing moment, there's not a single black actor/actress in any of their films :weird: (I guess white people problems are more trendy and bankable in Hollywood's mind...)

I always had the perception from talking with friends involved in that business that alcoholism --or alcohol overindulgence for those that thread that line closely-- (and in parallel, cigarette/weed smoking) is rampant in the acting/media community, whether it be the filming or theater or whatnot. I wonder what the stats would be if there was some sort of data compilation; and not only are we talking about the talent, but also the behind the scenes technicians. But I can't even imagine how I could cope with 20-something hours days of work in a concentrated 6-7 weeks/months periods of work, followed by unknown amounts of unemployment. But then again, it's cause I have some sort of alcohol intolerance. Maybe Fassbender et al would benefit from that pill that makes you allergic to alcohol from "Tintin and the Picaros" ;).

Question re that french interview. I don't speak French, but by the answers I could generaly figure out what they were asking. Still... Did they actually ask if it was him who was naked or if it was a body double?? Seriously?? How did they word it?

Well basically (only watched it once and had secondhand embarrassment for him thus didn't bother watching it again, so this is only from memory): I think they only asked him 2 questions directly, maybe 3 max: about the project and does sex addiction exist; and I think they asked him about the use of a body double because the ladies were talking to another wondering what they saw onscreen was all him, and they wanted confirmation; and something about taking off his hat because they can't see his beautiful eyes clearly. Now when I wear a hat, it's because my hair is gross and I wish to hide it, and it stays stuck in hathair mode, so it's even more embarrassing to take it off on national tv!

Penny, I'm not really knowledgeable about french personalities, but the man sitting next to him really looked like a pretentious overfaked-baked turd. Was it the host of the Miss France pageants? Il me répulsait vraiment et je ne le connaissais pas du tout!

 Yes exactly, he has been hosting the Miss France pageants show for years now (and some other sh#t) his name is Jean-Pierre Foucault (and I can't stand him too, you should google him if you've never heard about him :p) he kept making these awful jokes about him being a secret sex addict and the pageants being his "sisters" or some creepy sh#t like that :nogood: and he was non-stop talking about his car collection (Jay Leno like :sweatdrop:) it was embarrassing, really.
About that ridiculous hat thing :welcome: it was nothing else but rude and dumb to ask him to take it off that way, I've seen plenty of other stars rockin' it (Depp, Farrell, Smith...) on the show without anything been ever said about it, they never asked Karl Lagerfeld or Bono if they could take their glasses off to be able to see their gorgeous eyes either:roflmfao: they crossed the line with Michael because [he was being friendly and] they probably thought he was a nobody or just to improve their audience ratings that night :shrugs: Anyway, this show has turned to sh#t a long time ago but it's the only one in France huge enough to book A-List celebrities every week so we don't have much of a choice
Btw your french is not that bad ;)

After a role as that of Shame, which bends took your life?

Who makes my job knows the difficulty of maintaining stable relationships. We are always actors around, we are a little 'nomads. And then I need my time to work, to be alone during the preparation of a character. For the moment I concentrate on work, but I do not close the door to love, because it is the best experience of all.

How can you be so sure?

The beauty of sharing is something unbeatable. Living things by itself is interesting, but having someone by your side to share all the way down is wonderful. At the moment my passion is acting, but I know that someday I will need more in life.

I used Google Translate so that's why the wording is weird.

I think he's waiting for me, until we meet again Michael :graucho:
More seriously, I can understand why he doesn't want anything serious at the moment after waiting behind a bar for years to make it big in the industry... But at least he still believe in love so he'll probably find someone someday :smile1:

Have a sneaking suspicion that Lagerfeld removing his sunglasses and staring directly at us with those orbs of his would suck our souls dry :alien: . When I see him without them (he looks like a dehydrated prune, doesn't he?), I always think "put them back! Put them back on!"

On the topic of McQueen: I think he's brilliant in his creative mode, and with his ability to get the most out of his actors. But on the "selling movie" mode, which is part of the whole machine as much as it is for actors, I can totally understand why he could seen as abrasive and impatient, especially as he can snap when it veers into bull**** territory for him. That's mostly when he is interviewed on his own; he's much more subdued when paired with Fassbender.

His movies are interesting and he doesn't seem to have raging a-hole behaviour à la David O.Russell, so I don't give much thought to it as a moviegoer and wish him the best career-wise. His crew seems to adore him; I think it's more the journalists who get a one-on-own with him who are intimidated to get him when he's in no mood to converse!

" The way he talks, Shame clearly cost him something emotionally. Coming at the end of his cycle of back-to-back films, with much of it shot at night, he was barely sleeping and Brandon began to get under his skin. He recalls the scene where he discovers his sister Sissy (Carey Mulligan) has invited herself into his flat to stay. "I remember that was a particularly bad day. Just that I felt- I don't know- a bit vulnerable." Did he cry? "It's not even that simple. Close to it, if not. Just a sense of being a little bit lost in something. I don't really want to get into it." It's one of the rare times the candid Fassbender closes off. "I always think it's really boring when actors talk about that." "

Aw, he must feel very lonely these days wandering around the world from one hotel to the next with only his PR by his side [and piling movies like one night stands]
I never understood what he ever saw in Zoë or ROC anyway, he won't find love by dating boring famewhore chicks living in fake and shallow Hollywoodland with daddy's or ex-boyfriend's money :wondering
I still think he has some serious booze problem though he should definitely slow down a bit and find another way of dealing with life's issues: "He prefers the old-fashioned route: thrashing out his problems over a pint." :nogood: He doesn't want to end up like Johnny Depp, Mel Gibson or Jonathan Rhys Meyers, huh? :shucks:

I read somewhere that he stayed at Zoe's place while he was shooting Shame. Btw, I don't think Zoe is a boring fame whore. She seems like a fun, wild and rich party girl, but I don't think she calls the paps on herself and she's not whoring herself out either. The main problem that a lot of people had with their relationship was the age difference. She looks a lot younger and he looks a lot older.

If you were in Paris during the promo tour, then you must know who the black woman was that Michael was dry-humping in that Parisian night club. Was it Nicole or another woman?

You're funny  I was joking about Lagerfeld btw...
I doubt McQueen will ever make it big in Hollywood though because he cares too much about the truth in his work and not so much about the money making BS but that's what makes him so interesting, he doesn't consider his audience as dumb people who would be easily shocked by sexual, violent or uncomfortable subject matters and who would rather see a stupid happy ending to feel good about their own lives. Michael is as daring and bold with his choices as Steve that's why they would always be an awesome pairing to me.
David O. Russell makes good movies but he has always been a huge a$$hole if you haven't already heard about him fighting with George Clooney, forcing Jude Law to join his movie or molesting his transgender niece

I read about that

And no, Steve will def. not be mainstream Hollywood. He cares too much about his art and won't sell his soul to the Hollywood big wigs who-oh I don't know- might want him to cut a certain scene or something.

I think he's a very nice guy once you get to know him, but he's not a smooth talker. The time that I saw him snap was at a preview for Shame at the Tate and there were no journalists around. It was just Tate members asking questions. He was very blunt with certain people and almost a bit rude to a woman, when he didn't understand her question. I also saw him interact with people after the screening and again he was a bit awkward with people. He's obviously a lot less comfortable with the selling aspect of the film business, than Michael.

I've read some horrible things about David O. Russell, I can't believe that he still gets to make films. Who would want to work with that douche??

He's still a romantic at heart :P

Yes, indeed or he's just saying things that most of his female fans want to hear.
Like when he mentioned that he doesn't mind women being slightly overweight. When was the last time he dated an average-sized woman? Maiko, Leasi, Zoe and Nicole (if applicable) are all tiny women.

This is going to sound dumb, and I know it's hard with his busy schedule, but maybe he should get a dog :P A cute furry companion to travel with him =}

I don't think it's dumb at all. He obviously needs some companionship. Why not? Gosling has a dog, Clooney had his pig and Pitt had his dogs as well. He should get a nice K-9 friend. Let's hope he doesn't get a pug like Gerard Butler, because he looks a bit ridic with that little dog.
