Hey, if I'm buying I will manhandle the crap out of something-purse, fridge, car, doesnt matter LOL! I always remove the paper and plastic when it comes to handbags too. I'm checking out everything from zippers to stitching. I even put my stuff inside checking for weight and shoulder slippage. That's probably the no1 reason we return a bag. Dirt or stains are good for extra off:graucho:. I'm the queen of stain removal so as long as its not final sale-give me extra off and Im out the door LOL!!

Stain removal?? Lots of bags are being sold way cheaper because of that... What do you use for dark stains on lighter colors? I buy new bags because I know I can treat a stain asap, but I stay away from stains that are set in. I'm not sure how to remove those.

I actually use Meguiars auto leather conditioner and cleaner. If its good enough for my beemer seats, its good enough to clean my bags. I rarely get dirt or stains because I switch bags daily but when I find a stain or dirt or buy a bag with something on it, its been my go to. It doesn't leave any residue, non greasy and doesn't contain lanolin. It even has a sidenote on the back that says its excellent for cleaning handbags, briefcases, luggage and leather furniture and a little bit goes a long way. For suede I'm old school- white vinegar, soft and gentle scrub, dab dab dab, let dry then brush up the nap. I've been cleaning my Uggs and suede bags like this for years.

I'm the same with bags, I always feel like that people think I am stealing something from the shop! I pull out the tissue and put in umbrella, wallet, phone etc to feel the weight... As for the zips I'm not convinced the use use of plastic on such high priced leather bags- it would put me off.

I clean my suede the same way, Baglady! It works great. I just use a mild detergent though such as Woolite. Arm and Hammer detergent works well too, but you have to rinse it, of course. Never tried vinegar. Does it leave an odor? Like pickled purse? LMAO!! Just kidding!

Weirdly, it leaves no smell. I rinse my hair with it once or twice a month too. It gets rid of product residue/buildup beautifully. Your hair feels silky smooth after. Then I just wash and condition. No smell whatsoever. Vinegar has a million uses. I unclog drains with it too. Baking soda down the drain, pour in some V and clear the drain faster than liquid plumber. Bonus-it won't destroy your drain pipes.

I use vinegar for washing windows and cleaning my coffee maker. I have a sister in law that drinks it daily and swears it prevents her from getting arthritis! lol! She is 72 years old and has NO arthritis! So I looked it up and found an article that it really does work! Can you believe that?? It is also used for feminine hygiene, but we won't go there! LMAO!

I also mix apple cider vinegar, warm water and honey whenever someone has a sinus infection or sore throat. It will clear an infection, I swear. My hubby swallows a few tsp's of ACV when he has indigestion and it takes that god awful throat burn right away. Vinegar rules!!

You forgot my fav use for vinegar... Setting the dye on dark colored clothes (works like dying Easter eggs).
A plastic zipper has plusses in keeping the bag lightweight, but I can't see them being very durable.

Yep, plastic would reduce weight but again on a leather handbag just seems off? that said many are very durable, Longchamp has some on their Neo style stands up just fine, as per usual quality of zippers vary.
