Your metal edge collection is so pretty!! I love the metallic edge bags. Gorgeous! Congratulations on your new addition. I have been eyeing the white one for awhile. So beautiful! Do you find the leather remains structured still after a lot of use or does the leather soften up and slouch nicely?
Rather than starting a new thread, I figured I would ask a question here as there seem to be a lot of ME owners participating in this thread.
I'm having a really hard time resisting a preloved 2014 F/W Black Metallic Edge City with dark gold HW. Before I commit myself (and put myself on a bag ban for the rest of the year), I'd like to hear from existing ME owners how the 2014 black cities have aged.
Some questions:
1) How has the dark gold HW held up? Any tarnishing/flaking?
I have 2014 black with silver hw but it is holding up perfectly. No issues at all.
2) How is the long tassel holding up? I believe the new chevre tassels aren't prone to the splitting but would love a confirmation.
No splitting, but even if it did, you could easily glue it back together (see care & maintenance thread).
3) Any fading in the black leather noticed? Any other weaknesses that you can think of?
Zero. A durable and well constructed bag that can take a lot of use and still look phenomenal. The color does not fade.
4) Last but not least, are you going to hang on to yours long-term?
My (small) bag collection is like Game of Thrones: none of them are ever really safe. At any given moment it will suddenly make sense to sell one for any number of reasons. But my few black bags, most especially my ME, are the safest of any. They wear the best, are most versatile (for me) and bc black is so universally desireable, they can take some wear and still sell fairly well compared to lighter colors.
I think the black ME is an instant classic in either silver or gold--they didn't do anything too too crazy with it, but they successfully modified an existing classic to make it an "updated" classic without having to wait 10 years for it to prove itself. I recently carried my ME for about a straight week+ and had to force myself to give it a rest.
If you love it, I say go for it. It's a solid investment, IMO (also from a durability standpoint--they're very hardy!)
Thanks in advance for your feedback!
New year, new bag! Bleu Acier, more grey than I expected but still very pretty

This colour is really tempting me! I haven't seen a new Bal colour I liked in ages but can't get this blue/grey out of my head!![]()
Thank you for the detailed response! It sounds like a number of people think that this bag is durable and a good long-term buy, so I'm going to pull the trigger and do it. It really does look special IMHO.Some questions:

Have you seen it IRL? I love it. As the OP said, it's quite a bit more gray than it looks in the pic. Here's one under different lighting conditions, for your enjoyment![]()
thanks! The one I saw in London was like the one in the first picture, is this not a differen bag?
