Mens SS26 Runway Collection

This collection is cute for a summer but don't see it aging well. The animal prints look very...jansport kids backpack. However, I love that he has done denim in every collection so far!

Another Pharell collection where he basically "copies but changes some things" from a past collection/past creative director. My very high hopes for him keep diminishing with every show he puts out. He gets someone else to help him come up with ideas, call it a collab but takes 90% credit. Much like what happened with billionaire boys club, he just kinda left it to someone else to do while he got credit. Great musical artist, good PR presence but designing and ideating for fashion, based on what i see, not so good.

Maybe I'm in the minority here or the exact target audience Pharrell is aiming for but I love the bags from this collection! Love the lack of monogram on some of the designs and choice of large LVM branding instead, also love the Darjeeling Limited pattern (I'm sure either LV owns this pattern or Marc Jacobs charged them a hefty sum for his design - the man knows his designs are coveted!), and really really want that cornflower blue p9 even though I haven't been a p9 fan so far. I've also thought the promo photos on social media with models styled with this collection look stunning with everything in shades of brown, with gold accents and jewel embellishments. I don't think anything about this represents my culture (I'm South Asian) but it's beautiful and I would love pieces from this collection.

I love this collection, too!! Glad to hear your thoughts from your background! The tailoring is beautiful and I think gives a different perspective to what colours and contrasts can work with summer tailoring. Summer is not all just tshirts and shorts.

Plus, people across the world always traditionally dressed up for voyages, which keeps with Monsieur Vuitton's roots as the renowned trunkmaker for long haul travel!

@Bagsbagsbaby I'm loving the purples of all the bags, too, and the animals! Only watched Darjeeling Limited once, ages ago, loved it but forgot about the bag, so will definitely have to rewatch!

Now that higher-res photos are trickling in, it’s nice to see some of the new bags up close. I’m actually loving the ostrich speedy bags and the monogram print looks to be metallic on some of them
maybe?

Also, I know I’m in the minority on this but I thought it was refreshing to see a lot of tailoring and nearly no gigantic logos or writing on the ready to wear.

Hear hear!! It was super refreshing to have the logos toned down. Too many seasons of giant "LV" on the same bomber jacket silhouette, they were awesome but it's been long time for a change.

Yeah, I personally hate the fact that they made a rickshaw bag. Using the pattern from The Darjeeling Limited was fine because it's just a movie set in India, but making a rickshaw bag or bags from tapestry-like material makes me uncomfortable. It doesn't seem like it's paying homage to India, just using Indian or even vaguely Indian objects to make their stuff look "quirky" or dandy; Shikargah carpets (the obvious inspo behind the tapestry bags) are Persian, so IDK why they didn't bother doing their homework on that.

I'm marked safe 😅
But all jokes aside, it feels to be missing his attitude, his flair, a lil je ne sais quoi, you know. I appreciate the simple aesthetic and lack of logos but it made me feel it could be any other brand potentially. May have to rewatch but there wasn't a calling card I could pinpoint to say that's LV like how Nicolas does oversized. Some of those jackets though, wasn't sure I was watching S/S but then had to catch myself and not be so centered; there's other markets in opposite spaces.
Spoke a bit too soon, but after seeing the resee pictures coming out, Pharrell's "calling card" of details is 100% there! Loving all the close-up shots and it does give me a new appreciation for the show. While nothing specifically for me, there are lots of great pieces that were on the runway. Great tailoring! Interesting to learn how the bags were made by Marc Jacobs for the movie when he just did Sprouse inspired bags... Don't know if this could be looked at as a good thing of paying homage or lack of ideas.

Honestly if I wanted something from Darjeeling Limited I would just go for stuff from Very Troubled Child. All the look and vibes for 1/10 the price.

I have several (Darjeeling Limited is my favorite movie). Despite being quite nice, quality and durability is not as good as though. I still like using them though because I like fun bags.

Ah you’ve ordered from them before? I guessed as much given the pricing but then again you can buy 10 with the same budget as getting one LV bag hehe.

I don’t really understand the inclusion of these in the SS26 show though - it just feels very uninspired given how alike it was to the original DL designs.

Sheesh, the second collection they've totally ripped off from someone else this year.
I don't like to contribute to the "who did it first" back-and-forth in fashion, since everyone borrows all the time anyways.

But this pattern was clearly inspired by a previous LV limited edition run of bags and luggage by Marc Jacobs from 2007. I'm sure MJ also took his inspiration from somewhere, who knows, but VTC was founded in 2013 so surely not that.

Oh it’s very clear that VTC is copying the design from Darjeeling Express, I hope no one thought their designs were original! But it also doesn’t excuse Pharrell Williams from plundering the archives and essentially presenting almost identical designs as part of the SS26 show (IMHO).
