Maybe we are just getting older, I don't know. I did perfectly get why a one-off collab with Supreme would resonate with all the hypebeasts. But now we get something extreme every few months. Maybe I wouldn't mind it that much if the classic, permanent products would get some love too from the company, but I really don't feel that. Some key pieces simply disappear, there are 2-3 Taïga and Épi colours left for men (blacks and dark blues everywhere).
I am so curious how this business model works for them. I mean really. Because obviously most of the revenue still comes from the oceans of Speedies and Neverfulls and canvas SLGs they sell. Virgil's stuff can still be profitable, but I really would love to know if it is. Those super rare plastic Keepalls for example were available online for sooooooo long.
I agree with what you said 100%. No love for the permanent line and if this is the trajectory Louis Vuitton is going to be leading, I will be taking my money to Hermes or Dior. I will always treasure my Murakami, Mark Jacobs and Kim Jones items.
