I have some fragrance samples on the way to me...is there anything in particular you can point out that disappoints you?

Actually all of the 5 were really average. Any other brand produce similar scent in my opinion for 1/3 of the asking price.

Maître Noir or Corte Moi still my go to for Louis Vuitton parfum.

I tried all of the samples and honestly, I m unimpressed. I so wanted to love them!!
I kinda know what you mean. Except for Nouveau Monde, I really don't like them very much. But even Nouveau Monde is not really the most original fragrance being an oud, but it's an oud that works well for me and doesn't give me a headache after some time (which is the case with Tom Ford's Oud Wood).

From what I've seen, all of the LV fragrances seem to be very hit or miss for a lot of people, including fragrance enthusiasts. It's interesting to see the reactions to see what people expect or value in a fragrance.

1) I wasn't surprised by any of the fragrances. All of them seemed similar to fragrances from other brands (Hermès in particular).
2) They don't seem to last long on my skin.
I am going to try Nouveau Monde and Au Hasard again. I am disappointed. Maybe my expectations were too high?

Maybe my expectations were too high?
That might be the case, for I think a lot of us had high expectations given our relationships with this brand.

What I've come to realize is that maybe completely original and unheard of is not something to expect from these fragrances. Louis Vuitton seems to be much more about refinement than esoterica. In that respect, the fragrances seem very on brand.

The only ones that seem to last on my skin are Nouveau Monde and Matière Noire. That's always the case with Orientals and my skin. I don't need or even want many people to be able to detect the fragrance I'm wearing, but I don't want to have to put my nose against my skin in order to get any whiff of it.

Actually, after a few hours of wearing, Au Hasard has turned very nice. It actually reminds me a lot now of another fragrance I have: Bond No. 9's Chez Bond (which, stupidly, I forgot has sandalwood among the notes...maybe I need to wear it more often). The sillage is stronger for Chez Bond, though, and I think Chez Bond has a sweeter opening. Of course, Chez Bond is also pricier...

Anyway, Au Hasard is definitely nice, but it's not the best of its type that I've found for my skin.

I was trying them on the other day with my friend and we both agreed that one of them smelled like Terre d'Hermès and one smell like a scent from Chanel. I didn't even bother to learn which scent is which, I was so unimpressed with all five.

Since I bought the miniature bottle set, I’ve had the chance to study all five fragrances very closely. I like the oud&saffron and the sandalwood&ambrette ones the best. The citrus&grass one is also very nice, but generic. Truth be told, I would not buy any of them as full bottles. Still, I am curious to try the limited release oud fragrance as well.
