What's your opinion on this new Briefcase? It has matt "Steel " hardware instead of shiny gold, and the handles are attached in a different way than usual. It has a knitting on the backside (that looks a bit cheap), and it has canvas piping instead of the usual leather (is this another down grade in quality?). Hmm... So far, I'm not a fan, but it may grow.
-It's strange to see how much more masculine the monogram looks just by replace the zipper with a different color ;)

I've considered the bag because of the strap on the back that fits the new rolling luggage (that I just bought). It's very similar to the PDB size-wise that I have and I have found on my travels that the PDB is too small for me. With a laptop, agenda and a pouch I'm already bulging my PDB. The Briefcase is about the same size so I wouldn't use it personally. I wish the PDV GM had the new strap in the back because then I'd buy it and use it as my travel piece.

I love the aluminum hardware. It's just like on the Damier Géant bags! But I don't care for this particular bag... nothing special.

As for the "all canvas / no leather pipping", I am kind of split. On the one hand, leather piping gets scratched and shows wear, while canvas is more resistant. On the other hand, leather pipping can be a very elegant detail, protect the canvas from rubbing, and add structure to a bag.

I dropped off my PDV Macassar last month for a repipping, and it was only from 2012...

I looked at it in Épi and it's beautiful!

I have it in Macassar! The canvas is very soft and I love it
I do also like it very much. As you probably know, I have the District MM. It's almost similar in size, but it seems like the Christopher is more detailed while the District is more simple. I really like the Christopher, but it would probably be redundant to have both. I wonder if I should I try to sell the District, and go for the Christopher instead...

Why don't you get the Christopher Messenger in Épi and keep the District in Macassar?

I much prefer the Christopher Macassar over the district. Yes the district has clean lines but it's boring to me. The soft canvas of the Christopher deters cracking and bags like the district might have cracking problems where the canvas flap bends when being worn.

Out of the question! -I only carry brown bags! :)
