It always amuses me when people assume that it takes someone to be "smart" to go to medical school. Actually, most of the time, it just takes a lot of hard work and sacrifice. As we say in med school, it takes 80% perseverance and 20% intelligence.

But it does take a certain level of book smarts to be a doctor. Not everyone would be able to do it no matter how much they persevered. Not everyone's brains work the same either, some people are gifted at the arts but horrible at science and math. <-Someone like that probably wouldn't make it to medical school because they don't have natural smarts in the area you need. So you do have to be very book smart to begin with. Like i would NOT be able to get a perfect GPA no matter how hard i tried. I could quit my job, dump my bf and stay holed up in my room and still not be able to achieve those kind of grades. But some people can do it because they're naturally gifted.

But when i said she was 'smart' i didn't really mean that she must be solely book smart. She had the dedication to graduate med school which makes her smart in the sense that she worked hard to achieve her goals in life and the fact that she continued her education even though she was engaged to a billionaire shows that she wants to have an identity of her own and have her own career. She just seems like an overall smart person.

And not everyone can get into Harvard! lol!

He seems douchey to me too. I think she must be smart for him to have kept her around so long and for her to be so entagled in the company.

;) Haha in that case, thanks for the indirect compliment since I just graduated from medical school this past weekend. I shall print your post above and stick it on my wall to remind me on days when I'm about to dash off to the hospital at the crack of dawn and appreciate how at least I have this chance since not everyone will be able to.

He kind of rubbed me the wrong way as well until I realized he's probably just really socially awkward. He's still really young to have this kind of wealth and power plus he's a computer geek. No offense to those other geeks on here!!

I'm friends with a guy who invented a piece of software for chat forums like this one and made a couple million for it. Before we were close I thought he was a total freak. Not so, just took awhile to get him to open up and trust me as not wanting something from him. :smile1:

Congrats to them both for tying the knot!

I think he probably is somewhat douchey because you would have to be to be where he is. You can't start and run a billion dollar business without stepping on a few toes along the way. In the business world, you have to be ruthless if you want to succeed.

^ right. The end.. Of course you will always hear stories about people who feel they have bee done wrong by successful people, but that's the way business works. You can't please everybody.

At least his billions will be somewhat protected, if they split, since he earned it before they married.
