I just purchased my first Mark Cross bag from Barneys (online)! It's the Scottie Small Satchell in yellow-orange! Excellent warehouse sale...only paid $779! Yes, yes and yes!!!

I was going to get the Medium Madison in burnt orange...but I could not pass up the Scottie since it truly is such a classic bag!

The pic is a stock photo...can't wait until this baby arrives!

OMG! I unboxed my package today! I absolutely luv, luv, luv this bag! The yellow-orange color is so beautiful. It's an excellent neutral...it sort of looks like a tan color but with umph! The leather is just...#speechless. I luv the modern yest classic design and the lines of this handbag! The Small Scottie is the perfect size for day or night! It's not too big or too small...elegant, classy, chic, timeliness...well, you get it...#whiteglovetreatment

HOWEVER, <don't laugh>, how in the heck do you open the bag...now, I know with the Stam (which is the flick of the wrist technique to open...LOL)...I thought all I had to do was press down on the larger gold hardware piece and it would lift. Then, I started pressing on the circles that are upright...I also tried to lift the larger piece of the hardware...Needless to say, I got scared I would break the latch and gave up. May I have step-by-step instructions!

Marc Jacobs has been my favorite handbag designer and I stan for the iconic Stam and MJ Singles (that I can afford)! Now, I don't know...although the Stam vs. the MC Scottie bags both give totally different vibes...The Stam says, cool yet modern. The Scottie bag says classic yet modern and sophisticated! Unfortunately "The Scottie" bag is two times plus more expensive than MJ Stams and other similar styled bags MJ has like the 1984 Satchel and Metropolitan Satchel if I have to compare to the Mark Cross Scottie handbag. I'm not there yet in terms of spending 3K and whatnot for a bag. I get nervous once I hit about $1500. Anyway, I will definitely be looking for online sales at Barney's on a regular basis. I wish I could get my hands on a red and black Scottie (large or small) on sale, but I know the black Scotties will likely never be sold at a reduced price point.

FYI; I figured it out. First, it was locked and I was not turning it to connect to unlock...once I got it under control...I was able to get the push technique to work! I am so happy! I luv that bag and wish I could afford a couple more soon. However, I have purchased 3 vintage Mark Cross bags since my discovery of my fab Mark Cross Scottie! I am definitely a fan now.

All pics are from the sellers page...The 1st bag (brown) I will have to have it rehabbed for sure...overall, the leather qulity is divine and the hardware is very good. I only purchased the navy blue bag in the 2nd pic. The red was already sold by the time I saw the page. Anyway, I wish I could ID the exact style name and season released.
