ooohhh, roro. tell us your secrets. i used to be a huge makeup addict too and i've always thought it would be so fun to be a cosmetics sa. surrounded by all those pretty products promising big results...
It was so much fun. It's a funny story. I was a stay at home mom that used to shop at
Nordstrom and the Stila counter all the time. One day, I received a call at home and the Stila manager called me and asked me if I wanted to work there! She was moving to Seattle to work for
Nordstrom up there and she suggested me to the owner of the company. It was really weird. I didn't really know her, but I thought it would be fun to get out of the house for awhile. I had to go to Stila headquarters and "try out" for Jeanine Lobell, the owner/makeup artist. I had no idea what I was doing, but I faked it and got the job. It was fun, because it was before Stila was bought up by Estee Lauder and became a big corporate co. I got lots of free stuff and I was also able to work as a makeup artist freelance for Philosophy and other lines. In between all this, my husband had an affair, left me with three small kids and that job really got me through some hard times (kept my mind off things). I ended up leaving and going back to what I used to do, but it was a really fun job and I, to this day, am still the go-to makeupartist for all my daughter's friends when proms and formals come around. It is funny to see their eyes pop when I bring out all my makeup. Also, it was surprisingly good pay (Nordstrom is the best place to work if you are a S.A.) but I wish I was this into handbags back then. I could have received a great discount!!
I know that all the salesgirls wanted to work for Lancome, because they made so much money. Everyone shopped at Lancome and when gift with purchase came around, they raked it in!
Okay....I am going to brave the mall. Just my local mall (nothing exciting there), but I have to exchange some clothes I bought for my daughters and I am hoping to get in and get out before the masses arrive.
