It's so interesting to me to hear that so many folks have issues with malachite. I have a malachite necklace, brooch, and ring (none of which are VCA) and all have held up very well over the years. I don't wear them constantly but I've had them for probably 30+ years and they look like they did when I got them. Maybe because my pieces are chunkier and not sliced thin like the VCA pieces. Perhaps malachite doesn't like to be sliced thin like that.

I wondered this as well, maybe I buy malachite one day from DY or somewhere else!

My first Alhambra 5motif was malachite, as green is my fav color. I dropped it on my bathroom floor within two weeks of purchase and 3 stones cracked :/. My SA was kind enough to let me return and purchase something else for no charge. I now have carnelian and a few others - i can wear my carnelian 24/7 and have a dark dark color! I am always itching to purchase malachite, but can’t justify it after my initial incident. Hope this helps!
Oh wow, that’s insane! Thanks for sharing

A good idea, I may look into it in the future

Sorry missed your other comment on budget. You can’t go wrong with carnelian if that is what you decide. It is a beautiful stone and I see people wear it daily where I live.
One last thought, is tiger eye. I saw you said you are not fond of brown. Neither am I but I love tiger eye. I have earrings (butterfly 2 motif) and they serve as a neutral. The colour works with everything. Tiger eye and piesterite are my favourite stones since the pattern moves and changes as you tilt the stone. They are gorgeous to admire and pictures do not capture the stone well.
Pietersite is a breathtaking stone:-) even though I prefer YG to WG, I’d but it on the spot. However, my sweet SA informed me that it is for VIPs only. The TE never spoke to me and I’m in no position to splurge on something that is just a “may be”. The only reason I’m considering the second VA bracelet is I really like the look of 2 stacked. Thank you for your time and suggestions, I’ll think about it

Reading all of these posts is disheartening as I badly want a malachite bracelet. I adore that green color. I think I will play it safe and risk a pendant instead. This has been very helpful!

I think you should get what you love, which is clearly the malachite. I felt this way when everyone advised me against a Chanel lambskin bag so I waited and waited and eventually got it anyway! I love it to bits and am ok with the wear. Everyone has different tolerance levels and you will obviously cherish and take care of something you love. Life is too short to not take some chances!

All very good points raised on this thread about the fragility of Malachite, and even though I’ve loved the stone for so long I also avoided purchasing since I didn’t want a bracelet that was too fussy or had to be babied. After collecting different stone bracelets it still has not cured my itch for the malachite that I’ve always longed for all these years. I finally decided to pull the trigger and order one anyway knowing I will eventually have to replace the stones and I’m ok with that. I will enjoy the heck out of the bracelet until then!

May I ask how long they quoted you for wait time for malachite? Thanks!

I got the pave alternating and it was in stock! Just waiting to be altered to my wrist size, but purchased overseas through FaceTime so I won’t be seeing it in person until the next time I visit Asia maybe in the summer. I have my family there to store it for me. This is the bracelet I said yes to:

Wish I had the budget for the 10 alternating motif pictured (and a 20 alternating motif I tried on months ago 😂) but I’m very happy with the striations on the bracelet!

I love how straight the striations are! Great pick! I absolutely love my Malachite.

I appreciate your support! I have time to think about it so I will re read these posts and do some more research. Thank you again for your positivity. :)

If you like your jewelry looking pristine and shiny all the time, don't get malachite.

If you live in a humid place or you use a humidifier in the room where you store your jewelry, don't get malachite.

If you use hand creams or wash your hands a lot while wearing your bracelet, don't get malachite.

If you sweat easily, or you like wearing jewelry during activities where you sweat a lot like hiking or working out, don't get malachite.

Malachite cannot be restored, only replaced, and you cannot replace just one stone. VCA will replace all the stones, and I think it's about 200 eur per stone, I'm not sure.

Malachite is best when it doesn't make direct contact with skin and the air surrounding it is not humid. Or if it does make contact with skin, it's only worn occasionally.
Hello, Simple question as you seems really well informed, do you know if you can exchange stones from an onyx to malachite ?
I have a 5 motifs bracelet in Onyx and I was thinking to get a malachite one as I do not wear often my Onyx.

And for those who have a malachite 5 motifs, i need your advice.
I have a VCA 5 motifs in Onyx. I really love it but...my first choice was malachite and I can stop thinking about it.
I took the onyx because I was afraid about the "fragility" of the malachite.
But I am thinking about buy a malachite one too as I will not wear it daily.
Could someone share her experience with the malachite ? Is it worth it or is it really delicate ?
Thanks a lot :)
