Thank you so much for posting this! I never know where to go when it comes to items made here in their own shop.

I am ordering a teal purse for my daughter. Under a $100! What a great deal!

So thrilled you all enjoyed finding out about The Beggar's Pouch. Lulu, I was looking at a teal purse myself and trying to decide between that one or purple! (Opted for purple since it's a fave color, but the teal is really pretty!!)
I agree w/all comments made...especially re: the lies we're told about products being made in the U.S. being too expensive...Um, no, they're not. Again, Beggar's Pouch is a testimony to that.
Will add more later - I'm on my brick of a phone w/limited internet access - but just wanted to chime in again and tell you that I've enjoyed reading all of your posts!

CoachCruiser....I have good news and good news. Mike remembered you immediately, and I ordered the purple Chatham bag which should be in my possession by the end of this week. When I ordered, he told me that I was the second person who contacted him from this forum. He was really delighted about that. I am really anxious about receiving this bag, as you can almost feel the softness of the leather from your photos. Will keep you posted. Thanks, once again, for steering me in this direction!

I would like to support Made In USA bags but yet to find one that makes bag with the finished edges of Italian bags. I find most here tend to focus on leather quality but less on hardware design and the stitching just isn't part of the design, often using the same color thread as the bag instead of using it as contrast. Also the attachment of handles are often too arts and craft and the straps are too functional.

The one design house that was USA made and felt a cut above folk art was Ananas in New York City, I think now closed.

There are bigger bag companys made in the usa too, that I have bought from. Libaire in California, Gigi New York in NY and most recently Cuyana in California. Gigi New York is more finished petit chic if that is what you prefer.

I'm glad you posted this-I have never heard of Gigi and I really like some of their bags. How is the quality?

Oh my gosh! Compass Rose, that's GREAT! :) I'm so delighted, because I was really serious when I told Mike I was going to spread the word about his shop...I checked out the Chatham bag you ordered and now I'm tempted!!! It looks beautiful! Definitely keep me posted. :)

So here's mine! Seems like the purple is the favorite - it was the softest of all of the options when I was there in April :) the first photo is the most color accurate! Gorgeous! I love the flap on this bag! What's the exact name/price, out of curiosity?

I thought the purple was soft, but I thought the tans and blacks were very soft, too...I asked Mike about why certain leathers felt a teeny bit softer than others, and he told me that it had to do with the color/dye-ing process. If I remember correctly, he tries to limit the amount of dyes/steps so that the leather remains as true as possible to its natural form. :)

Yours is a beautiful bag! Is it shoulder only or does it go crossbody? TIA!
