Actually, there are specific sections of the museum that you're not allowed to take pics, but for the rest of them you can take pictures without the flash. (I just went there in December.)
Also, when I went, I didn't know that there's really no admission there. There's a voluntary fee - $15 or whatever amount your comfortable with.
