I saw if you like it get one! I want to save to buy my first LV brand new. I know that you can buy some used ones but I really want to feel like I worked for my bag and I want my first to be brand new.

Question-Why are so many LV bags on ebay completely trashed (especially the speedys?). If they really do stand up to the test of time, why do a lot of them look like crap? Is it just crappy owners?

The speedy is a throw around bag for most people that serves the purpose of replacing their more delicate bags. Hence, rain or shine, and snow and sleet, etc... the speedies tend to take a lot of abuse. These bags are however extremely resilient but like anything else it will eventually begin to show wear.

I read somewhere that LV's were the most marked up bags in terms of cost of production vs. retail price. I know all designers are marked up quite a bit because you're paying a hefty price for the name, but I read that LV's markup is higher than other designers' markups.

The LV canvas is extremely durable. Years back I had no interest in them because it seemed everyone had one and there are way too many fakes. However, I really wanted a speedy and that was my 1st LV. I've had it for 5 yrs and it still looks great. I don't use it as much because 1) its so hard to find things in that bag. Its like a black hole. I eventually purchased an organizer for my speedy so that was helpful. 2) I've come to realize hand held bags aren't my favorite. Id much rather a shoulder bag or even a cross body. Last summer I got my 2nd LV a neverfull and I absolutely love it! Its my go to bag and I have no regrets. I no longer care that so many others have the same bag. It looks good when im wearing it and that's all I care about. As far as fakes, you can usually spot them a mile away and they usually look off. Im currently contemplating what my next LV will be. So buy what you love and you'll have no regrets.

LV coated canvas bags are definitely worth the price. The design details are exquisite. And I love that most of the bags are lightweight, and durable. I prefer to travel with my LV over any other bag.
