LV vs Hermes, Chanel, Dior?

I think all of these brands only put out superior product. Though LV for travel rocks, these bags can be hauled, dropped, carried metro & country, stuffed, and they last last last. I am referring to my LV backpack but I am sure folks see this with other pieces.
(Though i would never handle Chanel or Hermes this way . . ..)

LV duh

Dior and Chanel started as a Coture house

Hermes started by making Horse saddles:hs:

LV started by making Steamer Trunks for Royalty

so do the math...

Before that he was a trunk Packer he would go to the houses of the wealthy and pack all their belongings into trunks for travel I guess he saw an opening for his own line of trunks better than those being used (LV's were flat top all others where domed which made it hard to stack for transport) and the rest is history

^^^ Wow, I didn't know that. Thats very interesting to know.

Thanks LA .... :okay:

I think it is hard to make comparisons unless you are doing so with bags made from similar materials and at similar price points. How does an LV leather bag at $10,000 compare to a $10,000 leather bag from Hermes or Chanel? How do the exotic bags at similar price points compare? How does a canvas bag from one line compare to a canvas bag from another line?

It isn't fair to make the comparison between one company's $1,000 bag and another company's $15,000 bag. I haven't done these comparisons, so I don't know any of the answers.

I own multiple pieces in all three brands you mentioned and here's my 2c on your question:

I personally think that the staple designs of Hermes, Chanel, and LV are just timeless, such as the LV Monogram Speedy, Chanel 2.55, and of course the Hermes Birkin and Kelly. I have a speedy 25 that my DH bought for me over 10 years ago, and I still use lovingly to this day. Same thing goes for my first Chanel Caviar classic 2.55. Nowadays, I've been all about H and those also never go out of style.

In regards to quality, I have to say that hands down Hermes is at the top of the heap. The craftmanship and the leather quality that goes into an Hermes is impeccable. Neither Chanel nor LV has one craftsman spending 18-22 hours on a bag with leather that has such strict selection process, that only 25% of the leather is accepted for use on a bag (any blemish, they chuck it). Of course, the downside is, you definitely have to pay for it! I never thought spending $6-$7k for a bag was going to be a routine thing for me, but once you've held that Hermes, you'll know what I mean. It's like you can feel the love and attention to detail by the craftsman. That being said, I've been dissapointed with Chanel's quality. I bought a reissue bag a few months ago and just using the bag for a week, I noticed the stitching was coming apart on the back pocket (never stuffed anything in the back). Now, after 2 1/2 months, I still haven't gotten my bag back from their repair center.

LV has been my love the longest. I own roughly 50 pieces between bags, shoes, and accessories and I love the limited edition collaborations, etc. When I'm thinking more fashion-forward, I reach for my LVs. For variety of designs, LV wins hands-down. So far, I've received GREAT service from my regular SA and Store Directors, but when travelling, I've noticed the poor attitudes of SAs in other boutiques. Overall, I think certain basic material pieces of LV are just becoming overpriced (like the canvas bags, etc.). From a quality perspective, my LVs have held up very well.

As to Dior, I used to love the line, until I always seem to find the bags on sale later on in the year (after I've paid full price). Also, the after-purchase repair service is almost non-existent. To me, Dior's too trendy and the only pieces I buy now are some of the costume jewelry. So here's my the final score:

Quality and Durability: Hermes > LV > Chanel > Dior
Customer Service: Hermes > LV > Chanel > Dior
Variety of Designs: LV > Chanel > Dior > Hermes
Status: Hermes > Chanel = LV > Dior

Again, just my opinion!

Hi im just wonder:
Which one is superior in craftmanship, durability, vatiety of designs, customer service and status?

LV vs Hermes = ?
LV vs Chanel = ?
LV vs Dior = ?

I would like all of your opinions! thank you !!!:D

I think that Hermes is the highest quality - but it's life span is significantly shorter than that of Louis Vuitton. Louis Vuitton also has the most number of styles. I believe that many of the Louis Vuitton "Special Order" items are just as well made as Hermes with prices to match.

I am not fond of Chanel what so ever - I think that the quality overall, is pretty poor and would rank as the lowest of the 3. I do not think that Chanel is as classy or as high-end as it once was.

Dior isn't even in the same league as the other 3 - Some of their bags are complete garbage, with materials very similar to that of Coach, Eww. I think that Prada, especially the leathers are far superior to that of Dior.
