You can treat the leather with saddle soap. It will darken the leather and condition it at the same time. Also, as other have stated, leaving the bag exposed to sunlight will start the patina process.

I tan my bags =D..I leave them by the window, and I let the vachetta part tan...(I cover the non vachetta part with a towel..

You would have thought I lost my mind yesterday. I had my BH sitting out by a window, and because you said you cover your canvas, I decided that mine should be covered too. :p I cut out little notches in a piece of paper and put it up against the bag, so that just the vachetta was showing. It looked so funny.

Although I don't think mine will darken this way...all our house windows have been tinted to block out 99% of UV rays. :hrmm:

Hmmm...Very very interesting...I personally prefer my LVs to be as pale as possible. Perhaps this has to do with yer culture cuz in Asia 'every' women wants to have very pale white skin...However, I know that Japanese women tend to purposely tan their LVs to a patina so that they are not perceived as an "LV Newbie" lol.

I tan my LV by using saddlesoap. It works great. I wet a cloth and then apply the saddlesoap. One or two times gives it a honey colour and then off to sit by the bay window. Make sure its not a super hot day though. Or else it feels like its melting. My pochette got really hot one day and I got scared. I keep it out 1 or 2 hours at a time or bring them out to the yard with me when I lay out. It patinas in no time at all once you get a jumpstart with the saddlesoap.

I've just learned from another board member that LV has a patina service. You can give it to them and they'll do it for you. It apparently takes 6-8 weeks. Personally, I'd go that route before I put vegetable oil on my bag.

Enough about the oil please. We heard enough.

LL, I use the brand KIWI. Its great. You can get saddlesoap just about anywhere they sell shoes. Just look where they have their cleaning product and you'll see it. Mine is also MELTONIAN brand. No big deal I think they all work the same. I got this one at Marty's Shoes.

We put sun tanning lotion on the straps and lay them out in the sun. He-He"

You have got to be kidding. And it is not funny.
