LV Side Trunk?

The black and tan debossed are a calf leather, but is described as a “fashion” leather. How is the hand feel for it? Will the slouch cause a permanent crease in the leather?

Also how are the corners wearing for everyone? Easily scratched?

Had the YK side trunk for a month, before I returned.

YK is made of taurillon leather, smooth and supple, unlike the Capucines taurillon. As long as you stuff the bag and don’t give it a “slouch” in storage, you shouldn’t have problems with creasing -I would think. From what I remember, the fashion leather looks and feels similar to the YK taurillon, but YK is a tad more luxurious.

Also, the bag looses its slouch when not held by hand (regardless of material). Keep that in mind, if you actually love the slouched look.

I ultimately returned the YK because it was an obvious return that someone used. Leather was damaged, and metal trim heavily scratched (YK is all-metal trim). The metal used for the side trunks will definitely show wear and tear. It’s just a matter of how often do you use it, and how do you treat it when you do use it. Side trunk has no feet, so expect the bottom corners to wear faster.

Thanks for the detailed review. Sounds like you got the infinity metal dots YK side trunk?

Just got this black leather Side Trunk this week - it’s made in France, the leather feels soft but durable. So far no scratches on the hardware but I’ve only been wearing it a few days. Enjoying it thoroughly!

Ohh! So beautiful! The black is the one I have my eye on! It’s so edgy and chic! I’m hoping this style stays awhile.

As for hardware scratches, I have a Petite Malle and the corners scratched immediately. You can’t tell in normal indoor light but under direct sunlight it’s super apparent. Hoping this silver metal is more durable! Let me know after a few more wears if they scratch?

I remember trying to order that during the YK frenzy but they were sold out! It’s probably for the best as the monoglam is easier to wear.
YK is an insanely heavy piece. Every CA that has ordered the piece for someone agreed with me -that it’s a very pricey paperweight lol

It really did make me sad, to bring the bag in and ask for a return.

The silver metal that LV used gets scratched easily. Whoever had the bag before definitely used it and returned it. Took photos the day I received it, because I had a feeling I would run into problems with a return. I’m not exaggerating when I say that the metal looked like it has seen more use than my LV bags, and their hardware, that I have had for 5 years.

Decided to go with monoglam because it’s lighter, and I like how the bag looks slouched and unslouched. I originally ordered the monoglam speedy, but was bummed about the non-extended zipper.

Had LV made a black leather side trunk with gold hardware, I would have been sold the instant it came out (what I was originally hoping for last year).

I've been using mine in rotation and have noticed a couple scratches. I have the leather one with full metal hardware on the sides, so a bit easier to scratch. Overall one of my favorites and holds more then my usual.

Yes that YK side trunk is truly a work of art. But with the full metal sides and the heavy dots, it sounds like it was indeed intended to be admired instead of used. I am surprised it was accepted as a return all banged up. Usually they are picky about accepting returns.

I think you will love the monoglam. I have the speedy and was originally like WTF about the zipper but now I really like it and understand why. It’s such a stiff canvas that if you had the extended zipper, you would be fussing all day.

I just got the black leather side trunk and love the silver. I already have a lot of black and gold hw bags already. And this silver looks more edgy. I do love the gold hw on the monoglam and how it pops off the blue though! Gorgeous!
