I think there's a time and place for doing something like this, but I don't think that the role she had at the Tony's was the place for it. I'm of the mind that when a person is a presenter at an awards show, they should look great, but kind of have the mother of the groom role at a wedding - blending into the background to allow the principles to shine. Since Lupita is both stunning and is so often a fashion statement, I think I would rather her have worn something like this to a fashion show, met gala type event, etc where fashion is the focus and there would have been an opportunity for her to shine as fashion forward.

in the photos with the jacket on, it's much less dramatic

She looked scary IMO. Like a robot in some scifi flick. And you never see it with her normally but with that breastplate... she looked scarily skinny. I mean, bones sticking out. I'm also not too wild about the bald henna tattoo look.
Agreed. The breastplate and shaved head do her no favours at all. All the talk about "empowerment" etc etc doesn't mean attention-seeking in outfits that are bound to be chosen for publicity photos. Previous pictures of her on this thread, and I've only looked at this page, show how pretty she is with lovely hair and wearing beautiful clothes.

Anyone can dress how they like, of course, but, for me, femininity is important and showing off body parts (even if not naked) seems to, disappointingly, become the common denominator for most actresses/actors somewhere along the line and it's not necessary to stoop low like that. What's wrong with clothes?! My opinion only.
