I always get my husband and I a Fu bracelet every Lunar New Year regardless of our Chinese zodiac signs. It is generally for good luck, safety, and health.

Traditionally it is a red corded bracelet with a 24k piece.
For durability of the bracelet itself I often get him a beaded bracelet with a 24k pixiu or 24k ruyi.
We are switching to 18k this year because eventually the gold gets damaged and falls off and we don't want the dogs accidentally finding a piece and eating it.

For myself, I usually get a corded bracelet for comfort. I already wear a lot of metal on my wrists, so I prefer a corded bracelet. Sometimes I'll choose gold, sometimes I won't have any gold at all. More of a personal preference for me. But for me, there's always some red in it.

Usually if it is your zodiac year, you just need to have something red on you at all times. A very easy way to do this is red underwear or red Fu bracelet (preferably blessed at a temple).
Thank you so much for your thoughts! Where could I find one in 18k? Any links would be appreciated, thank you!

Ugg ok, so I keep being indecisive about what I want because I feel 24K gold might not be that durable for everyday wear because of how soft it is (I don't want the details of the charms to smooth out). I also don't like that the bead bracelets tend to be kind of chunky since it won't match my existing jewerly. So I decided to get this 18K charm, some jade beads, and some red nylon cord and will make my own bracelet:

I will grab one of these too. Thanks for sharing!

I forgot to ask before, but the 24k charms are quite soft? I read that you had your charm fall off in the past, I did order a 24k charm, but it is fixed on the bracelet and doesn’t slide around. I am hoping that will prevent it from breaking!

It depends on your lifestyle and what you do with your hands on a daily basis.
My husband never takes his off except when he showers or washes the dogs. And since 24k is very very soft, it’s bound to get misshapen over time. Even if it is very securely placed anything that presses against it, another bracelet, your body, etc, it will easily dent. It’s a normal thing with 24k gold and we expect it and it doesn’t bother us. I have a 24k or 99.99% gold bracelet and I can easily bend it with my hands. So I basically never wear it lol.

I've been debating on what to get....my mom surprisingly gave me a Pi Xiu bracelet! I think this one is for countering bad luck for my year (I'm a dragon).

I had to purify the bracelet before wearing it.

I'll put the rules/instructions here in case anyone is curious:
