Hello everyone,

I was thrift shopping the other day, when I came across this great shoulder bag. I love vintage items, and it was a great price. When I got it home and began to research it, I started to learn about the amazing Lucille de Paris vintage bags :yahoo: My question is this: My bag is marked Lucille with the similar alligator logo. All of the other bags like this are marked Lucille de Paris.... Is this an authentic bag?? I am perplexed :confused1:

Here is a link to the photo....I really appreciate any help!!

Hi! Congrats on your beautiful bag! I have a Lucille exactly like that except mine is ostrich. I am no expert, but I highly doubt it is fake. I don't think there were fakes back then like there are now. I know they custom made bags so maybe this belonged to Lucille herself and she just had her name! :p How cool would that be?

hello everyone..I would like any info on the rarity of my vanilla anteater skin Lucille de Paris handbag. I inherited it from my 92 year old aunt along with a few other great vintage bags and vintage gloves. My handbag is in great shape. So far from what I have determined by my research online, anteater is quite rare and now on the endangered species list. I would appreciate any help with this. Thanks in advance....fondly, the empty nest
Did you find the info you needed? I also have a vintage Lucille de Paris purse I'm trying to price.

This Lucille de Paris would be worth more that the other types of skins because of its rarity. Condition and size matter too, but I would imagine if you wanted to sell it you could get around $700 at least. Just punch in Lucille de Paris on ebay and a dozen or so will come up on ebay and also on etsy.
Don't be dismayed by the low starting prices or the lower prices, some of the purses are in poor condition.

Ever since seeing the beautiful film 'Carol' back in 2015, I've wanted to find a handbag similar to the ostrich one Cate Blanchett carries in the film... I think I may have done!

After seeing this interview with the film's costume designer, the genius Oscar-winner Sandy Powell - I'm wondering if the bags she acquired for the film (in addition to the ostrich, there's a black alligator piece) aren't from Lucille de Paris? The bag from the film and the one I found are remarkably similar in design (consider the gold hardware)...

Carol looks so put together and her jewelry and accessories are so impeccably matched. Where did you find those pieces?

I made the scarves and the hats. The scarves I dyed because I wanted that specific coral color and then they matched [Carol's] nails and lipstick. Her jewelry was loaned from various estate jewelry [collections, plus] Fred Leighton and Van Cleef & Arpels lent us pieces. All her shoes are made by Ferragamo based on their original 1950s and 1940s shapes and original patterns. I bought vintage bags from the period as well.

Here are some clips if you care to see the bag in action - (Spoilers if you've never seen the film!)
