the Queens piper looks like a fine happy fella..
The US Marine Corps band interviews musicians from universities and conservatories first, then they join the Corps for 4 years at time. Men and women.@gracekelly It definitely looks (to me) like a woman in the front left position. Are these troops sometimes mixed gender, or is this very unusual?

There were females playing bagpipes and other instruments that I saw participating in The Queen’s funeral processions. I think it is the case in most Western countries. Funny that when I first viewed the picture, I didn’t notice that there was a woman right up front.@gracekelly It definitely looks (to me) like a woman in the front left position. I’ve never seen these saffron kilts before. Don’t mean to offend, but to me that is a ghastly color!View attachment 5654113
The Saffron Kilt in Ireland
The kilt most traditionally associated with Ireland is known as the Saffron Kilt. These were the first kind worn by the Irish military and are still the most widely worn today. The Saffron Kilt is mustard yellow in colour and often has shamrock appliques adorning the pleat.
