I was wondering how many of you love low rise jeans and why? I’d also like if we can discuss and share how you style yours and what you wear with them to make it work with your outfits. What length tops work with low rise for you?

It seems there is an equal amount of low rise wearers, and haters.

I actually love low rise! Being tall and sitting lower on my waist adds length to jeans that if sitting higher would be too short on me. I stay fit and my build is slim, I don’t get a muffin top with low rise so for me I am happy how it looks. The most important rule when I wear low rise is to always wear a sturdy leather belt so they stay in place and the buckle isn’t too big so I avoid it digging into my stomach area. Thongs just fit better with low rise and don’t stick out, compared to briefs so with low rise I prefer to wear a thong. My thongs do not stick out because I wear a belt, no teenage look nowadays in my thirties 😂

I still have PTSD from the 00's when low rise was THE option :P. I could pull that off when I was a teenager, you wouldn't catch me dead as a mid-30s woman wearing them (just not my taste/style), I'm a mid-high rise jean wearer myself.

But if you love and enjoy them that's awesome!

Yeah, I went through the low rise phase when they were popular (who remembers Von Dutch denim?). Not doing it again, nevermind the fact that I'm not a 102lb college girl anymore. Even then, I was hiking those suckers up- I just don't like the feel of my pants that low.
(I may still have some old circa 2002 Juicy sweats for around the house use only and I'm still giving them a tug up every so often.)

I loved them in the 00s. They really worked for my body shape. I haven't seen any in the stores yet but I will for sure try them on when I do find them. If I like them, I will buy them and wear them.

I know a lot of people hate them, but that's how I feel about high rise. High rise for me look like grandpa pants. My torso is short due to spine deformity, so the low rise looked more normal while high rise tends to sit almost right under my bra. Not a good look.

To each their own! I don't see them when I'm shopping however, so are they hard to find?
I like mid-rise, I have the shortest torso so high waist isn't comfy, nor was low rise ever.
They are easier to find online. Old Navy and American Eagle sell them.

I get mine from American Eagle Outfitters online and love those! Old Navy has them too and a few other brands but usually online only. They still look great worn with a belt like in the 90’s and 00’s though now it can be a basic or dressier belt instead of studded belts 😄. I have the torso issue too and despise how high rise looks.

I can and have worn a variety of styles and rises, but probably prefer (slightly low) mid rise for comfort. Underwear is of course available in a variety of rises also. For a lower rise, I prefer a longer hemmed top; for a higher rise, a shorter one. In my neck of the woods, most currently available, fashionable, premium denim tends to be mid rise and not super tight.*

But, I have kept some pairs that are lower rise and slimmer (waxed cotton habitual brand and earnest sewn) bc I’m fond of them. Whether one can and should wear low rise depends on torso length (comfort) and a full length selfie (for some people with longer torsos, a low rise is not as attractive).

ETA: with either rise, I’m not fond of stretch denim bc it sags. I only buy denim that I can purchase in person, not on line. Bottom line, wear what suits your body type, budget, lifestyle, aesthetics. And, be sure it fits

(*ETA: Fashion of course follows the young. And, younger people — I’m 57, so this encompasses quite a few decades — have been wearing tighter tops and looser pants, mainly mid rise, even if they appear to be falling off the hips, for some time lol  A French tuck shirt (half in, half out works for a variety of rises and volumes)

A French tuck shirt
I cannot figure out French tucks for the life of me. It looks good from the front, but drapes weirdly at the back. Would appreciate tips if you've got them.

OP, I'm not too focused on the rise of the jeans when I'm purchasing. I tend to look at quality and cut, along with any interesting details, so I have a variety of rises in my wardrobe. I also wear my jeans a size or two bigger than I need, which means they all tend to sit pretty low on me anyway. A good belt keeps them from gaping when I sit, and I wear long tops with everything.

I’d love to see a few examples of outfits you style this way with low rise jeans! 💕. I have attempted a French tuck and think I got it perfected, I love this style to show off my belts. I’m providing videos below I used to learn about shirt tuck techniques, they may help you too.

Great outfits! And thank you for the videos! :)
I don't have any outfit pics handy, but I'll try to remember to take some and update. It's all pretty standard- button down shirt or jumper and jeans. I'm pretty boy-ish and neat in my outfit choices, so it's quite dull.

Your welcome! 🙂 Thank you so much 💕 Any outfit inspiration is welcome, whether casual or fancy. Sometimes I love to dress casual/standard so don’t feel like your outfits are dull, embrace them!

I love low rise and hate high rise. My favorite low rise were Paige jeans back in the days. They make me look slim and long, despite being only 5“2‘. Also I have a navel piercing which means high rise pants are hell.

I have some of my low rise jeans from the early 2000s, AG jeans, People’s Liberation and Habitual. I got rid of my Frankie B’s because no self respecting woman in her 60s would still be wearing Frankie Bs.
