I was always against designers. i never understood the appeal, or why people would pay so much for something like a bag.
Then, one day, i was looking online for a blue case for my new mp3 player, and somehow i was directed to the Coach website and saw a blue mini skinny. i thought "wow! that color is great!"

that was it. i have been hooked ever since (ok, it's only been like 5 months, but i've made a lot of purchases since then!)

the funniest thing is that i never bought that first mini skinny that started it all!:shrugs:

At first I felt that way too. My Aunt hoarded LV's like they were water cases from Costco and I eventually pored over a Coach catalogue as if it were a sacred document. Sigh, this is such an expensive and surprisingly, time-consuming hobby.

You should try and locate that mini-skinny! :) I never got the demi though...it would be too impractical for me to have a handbag that small.

I first "really" discovered Coach back in 1999. I had known about Coach before b/c I follow handbags, but I got a job in a dept store & everyone in my dept had one! That was long before signature & wristlets & mini skinnies, just straight leather bags! I thought they were so beautiful! I bought a small one & returned it (too small & I don't even know the name-I'll have to look into that) & didn't get another until several years after later, but I have loved them & followed the line since! I now own bags, shoes, & everything in between, but the first bag that I really remember noticing was the Willis Station Bag (I think)!:smile1:

I bought my first Coach in 1977 I believe. It was the Stewardess bag. I do not have that original one but I still have the one I bought that was either in 1979 or 1980. The original one was wrecked in a horrible "once in a century rain storm". It was completely soaked through along with everything I had in it. This was heavy leather besides. I have been buying Coach bags ever since. :shame:

i fell in love with coach when my mom and my eldest sis bought bags from a friend who went here in the states. then my sis has a matching hobo and wristlet and my mom a tote. then last year, my sis gave me the wristlet hich i love to death =0 that's how my love affair with coach began

I had seen a few people who had the Siganture demi pouch and I really liked it but I wanted one that was different from the normal brown and black ones I had seen ,So put my wish for my bag out of my mind and tried to go one with my life when one afternoon I went into Marshell Fields ( now Macys ) where my mother worked , and walked by the ourse counter ( I live in a small town that only has a little Coach display in a glass case ) I saw they had some bags for 30% percent off and I saw the Siganture Demi Pouch in the Denim color ( this was fall of 2003) and I nearly freaked out  ! It was the one I saw in a catolog and had thought it would be perfect ! well I had a coupon that could used on any clearence item in MArshell Fields at home that was an additional 25% off the clearence price , well the next day I brought my money and my coupon and got it while I was on my lunch break. :yahoo: My mom had the lady who ran the purse department sit it aside so no one else could buy it . Back then I thought $90 for a purse was a lot , but I thought I should treat myself because I don't drink or smoke and I should have nice things !
Well it has been a love affair ever since with Coach , 16 and counting and I think I will add a new one next week the Green Straw Basket purse needs a nice home

Here it is with its matching key fob !

Back in high school, 1985. I never thought much about purses at all, until I noticed a few girls carrying very nice leather bags that had very clean, simple lines and a tag - Coach, of course. Then I found out how much they cost $100 and up, I couldn't afford one at all.

I clearly remember coming back from winter break and a classmate having this beautiful, British Tan saddle bag with a lovely brass buckle...I was hooked. My desire grew as various family members and friends would get bags for graduation and as presents, but not me.

When I graduated from high school 1989, I got a little money and went straight away and got a small duffle sac in British Tan. I can't bring myself to carry much else (well sometimes a D & B), if I could afford pricer designers now I would indulge, but I can't and am very happy with Coach. I've seen Coach branch out from the very simple looks to the more trendy, modern bags of today. Sometimes I wish they would go back to some of the simpler styles that had such a wide array of colors, olive green, purple, burgandy, but I still love them.

Then there was a luggage shop that was near my first job that sold discontinued items 20% discounted and a layaway. I still have several bags I bought from there 1990 - 1993 or so.

I found out about the Outlet stores while on a trip to Niagra Falls about five years ago and my collection boomed. Between the outlet, a friend's discount (who works for Sara Lee) and sales at Macy's, I haven't bought a full priced bag since the first.

I've always sort of known about designer bags. I am back in college and pretty much every girl there carries a designer bag (or a knock off) but I never actually paid attention. I'm usually not one to be trendy and I thought all designer bags were. I thought most of them were ugly (maybe I was seeing knock-offs!) and I couldn't imagine why anyone would spend that kind of $$ on something so hideous. For the longest time (years) I had a purse that I loved-a stirrup shaped tooled leather pouch type thing. I got tons of compliments on that bag everywhere I went and it was the best bag ever! But I had bought it from ebay and when it finally fell apart, I've never been able to find another. I miss it! :crybaby:

Anyway...about a month ago I somehow ended up on the Coach site-I think it was accidental actually. But there I was browsing around and I was actually impressed. It wasn't nearly as expensive as I had thought and the classics line didn't look so trendy. I fell in love with the rambler's legacy bag and found a nice one on ebay which dh bought me early for my bday. My first Coach bag!! :yahoo: I  it but I do think it is a bit on the small side for me. Of course now I've fallen in love with the Soho flap bag and various other Coach things (see crazy wishlists below).

After finding tpf, I heard about the Coach outlet and began conspiring for how I could get dh to take me there. So the weight loss challenge was born! I just wish I had fallen in love with Coach before this career change thing I'm doing because it is so hard to be addicted to Coach when you have no income at all  Girls, you know when I get done with school I'm going on a Coach spree!

Believe it or not, I only got into Coach early last year (and LV in August)! I had seen the Poppy line in a Nordstroms catalog, and then later in person...but I hadn't made that leap in my head to spend "that much" on a purse. I was in lust with the duffle. Serious lust! I also had this thing about white leather, couldn't do it, no how, no way, reminded me too much of grandmas with their shiny white shoes on Memorial Day.

And so, I was talking to my Mom, and she said, I can't believe you want to spend that much on a purse (never mind that we have some Old School, AWL D&B bags)...

So I had been doing Weight Watchers since Nov. of 2005, and I had just lost my first 25 pounds...so I decided I needed a nice treat to congratulate myself.

I first went to Nordstroms where I lusted again after the Poppy (couldn't do white, yet, LOL), but the older sales lady totally snubbed me (I haven't seen her there lately, we have another SA there now) so I basically thought well, "F-this" I'll go upstairs to the store. I was carrying a small D&B bag at the time, and fell in love with a cute small Soho Hobo. It came home with me, as well as the Poppy Coin Purse (I figured that would get me my Poppy fix!)

I also bought a patent keyfob that has a flower, ladybug, and bee on it) which I gave to my Mom. When I came home, so proud with my crisp white Coach shopping bag, my Mom actually said to me, "I can't believe you spent that much on a purse..." Little did she know what would lie in store for her!

Then come March I got invited to my first PCE where I bought the wallet and key fob shown in the picture...

In the summer, I waited it out...I scored the Poppy Demi for like $75 on sale at Macy's! Woo-hoo!!

When I was in 8th grade my friend would go on and on about how she wanted her boyfriend to get her a coach purse. I didn't know what a coach purse was or what was so special about it (but I never said anything about not know). My other friend would also talk about how her sister had recently gotten a Coach purse. So then it really started to bug me that I didnt know what Coach was then one day my friend posted a blog with a picture of a signature bucket hat and a signature demi both in khaki. It was LOVE at first site. I was thinking "OH MY. IVE GOT TO HAVE ONE!" The summer before my freshman year we went to San Diego and my auntie took us to the Marine Exchange where the Coach Purses are cheaper &no sales tax. I showed my mom and dad the black on black demi. It was $110 and they said OKAY! I was sooo Happy :yahoo:
