Lost my engagement ring. :( Help me pick a new one!

Just looked at my ring. It looks like there are 2 tapered baguettes on each side. Is that what is pictured in your #3 choice? After reading all the posts about people selecting #3, I'm really loving my ring today. I must get it resized so I can wear it. Recently I thought about resetting into a "halo" because that is the new trend in my area. But I decided that I prefer the classic look of mine and do not want to change it. Maybe someday in a long time from now, I'll upgrade stone only if it is noticable......

LOL... my poor Lucida with Trilliant side stones is losing out! But I did post the wrong one in the OP and by the time someone pointed it out it was too late! LOL. This is the one I meant:

Very interesting responses though - thanks so much... I'm leaning towards the round with the two side baguettes but want to see it in person first. Will keep you all updated for sure!

Oh and I'll definitely look up pricescope.com thanks! And talk to my local jeweler too. I kind of do fall for labels and the whole idea of walking into Tiffany's to have it cleaned etc. but I also want a really beautiful ring! So I'm DEFINITELY open to getting a "generic" ring made to copy it. :) PLUS... for me I do really like white gold and don't feel like I want to pay a premium for platinum... but we'll see!

Sigh. I thought this was going to be fun but DH is really NOT being fun about this at all. We're both bummed about the first ring being stolen. It was a .79 or .80 solitaire, beautiful colour (I think E/F), good/VG cut, and VS1 I think. You could definitely see inclusions with the naked eye - almost like sand in it. Which to be totally honest always kind of bugged me. He wants me to get the EXACT same ring. He thinks I'm "messing with a good thing" (as in our marriage) by getting something different... how do I convince him it's sad but it's JUST a ring and it doesn't have to mean anything bad like that? Half my friend have had their rings stolen or reset! It's so not fun - we got in almost a fight about it today in the car and he ended it by sulking and just saying "fine get whatever you want". :( He said he feels like the first one wasn't good enough (because I'm getting a better/slightly different one). Anyone else experience this?

interesting. i always thought it was the woman who feel this sort of superstition. when i lost my original wedding ring (a year and a half after we were married), my husband could care less what i picked out with the insurance money—which ended up being completely different than my original. his theory was whether or not i picked out the same exact ring, it still wasn't the same exact ring. kwim? i mean, it's nice to try and emulate the same ring as your original ring, but i see no reason since it's not the one he placed on your finger on your wedding day.

tell him it's time to move forward with your life and look at it as a sign that you were always bothered by the quality of diamond before—or does he not know you felt that way? i don't know, obviously it's up to you whether or not you choose the same style/quality of ring as before, but remember, you're the one who wears it every single day, not him.

it's just a ring, too, there is no hidden meaning or agenda to it.

good luck with whatever you decide.
