Thanks all, I had a scare. Because they were Grandma's...and my late Grandpa gave them to her. He was a really cool guy.

In fact, I'm going to put them in the safe deposit box. I'll wear my Moissanite for now..no one can tell the difference but me. I was so happy that I cried when my son found the missing earring.

I think they should be insured, but I'd be just heartbroken to lose 'em again. I guess to me they are priceless.

Thanks so much for your kind words, I found this section by accident (my post was re-directed to the jewelery forum) but now I think I'll stay awhile.

My son found it deep in our shaggy carpet, most of our home is tile, so it figures it would be in the entertainment area. I said I would give him $10 if he found it...and an hour later he did!!!

I love my kids! Thank you for your kind encouraging words, I know it isn't the end of the world...but I felt terrible.

Congrats! LOL What a way to get your son to help you! I know if I was his age, and my mom lost jewlery and she paid me to help, you'd bet ya that I'd be looking everywhere to get some extra cash haha! Now, get the insured!

I'm glad you found your missing earring! Can your son locate my missing earring? J/K I lost the diamond earring in my bedroom last November but the weird thing is that I have the backing for it. I had put everything in a jewelry box but when I went back for it, the one earring stud was missing!

I looked everywhere for it and didn't vacuum for several weeks! (Yuck!) Never found it.... I'm still upset about it, but I'll probably go back to the store that I bought it from and ask them to make me a replacement since I still own the other earring with two backings. Aargh!!!

I'm so happy for you! It is horrible to loose something especially something irreplaceable with a great family value and if it's your fault. Last week my 1 year old daughter spilled wine on our computer eventhough I was holding her in my arms she managed to do this. I don't have to mention what was her father's reaction :smile1:
But maybe one day she'll help me with a lost piece of jewelry ;)
Anyway,I'm happy for the happy ending!

i didn't try this, but maybe a metal detector could find it..you never know what might be in a corner, or in a laundry pile. i think if i had used one (if my son hadn't found it)

no, i don't own a metal detector...but i am sure someone in my neighborhood has one

i hope it turns up. i lost a costume earring, it turned up months later when i was doing laundry. i guess it had fallen into the bottom of the basket or something.

Oh gawd, I just experienced a blast from my past. Shortly after I splurged on a mikimoto pearl bracelet, I got it caught on the shift knob of my car. It wasn't knotted as well as I might have expected and quite a few pearls went flying. At the time, I was driving in heavy traffic, so just stopping to gather wasn't an option. I did amuse myself with thoughts of pearls before swine :graucho: , what with the possible ugly reaction of my fellow drivers.

Anyway, long story short I offered my daughter a dollar for every pearl she found and let me tell you she found them all :yahoo: , in fact, I've often thought she found an extra. ;) I also love my kids.

I'm so glad this ended okay for you. I know just how you felt; sinking feeling in tummy, right?.
