After 22 years, I’m looking to reset my e-ring emerald cut. I still love my stone, but the original Van Cleef & Arpels inspired setting looks at bit clunky to me now. And the setting was hand rolled versus cast so the ring it is pretty heavy.

I’m thinking of doing a thinner graduated setting but want to do something a little more than the current baguettes. I think my dh would be happier if I could somehow incorporate the baguettes into the new design.

I would love some ideas!

Kind of in love with this setting but I’ve heard that French cuts are really expensive...

So you think doing a thin bead of pave diamonds around the baguettes (.02 or .03) in a more delicate, tapered setting would be weird?
I like well done micro pave too and have gone down that road as well. You just have beautiful components now. Why not incorporate them into a daintier version of your current ring. I love the version you posted. It would not only be an environmentally friendly approach but sentimental too.

Have you considered doing a halo? As we get older a so called "shrinkage" sets in ;) Your center stone is a stunner and would look fabulous as a solitaire, but it might look and feel small in a thinner band setting. Would love to see what you will choose and what the end product looks like. Have fun choosing and designing:heart:

Thank you! I love my center stone.

My sister has a oval cut with a halo that I absolutely love. I am just not sure if I love emerald cuts with halos...Plus, my center stone is 2.86 cts and my jeweler thinks a halo would be a little over the top with this stone.:confused1:

But I do want to embellish the new setting a little. I am trying to find something cool to do with the band but I haven't seen anything perfect yet.

What do you all think about this band only. No halo around the center stone. Would this look better if I had a plain platinum band after the paves surrounding the baguettes?

I hear you. Then just go all about the stones and do the simplest setting to showcase your beauties to look something like that:

This type of reset should not be expensive, as you would be able to use both the stones and the metal you already have and it would give you time to enjoy just the beauty of your stones, have a a new ring and not feel stressed about choosing the "wrong" setting. And when you come across a setting you absolutely love and must have, you can do it without feeling guilty about spending money again.

This setting is lovely and actually will make your center stone look larger with the narrow band. A wide band always makes the center stone look smaller. I have also never liked emerald cuts with a halo...it detracts from the icy look of the emerald cut and looks busy. I don’t think you need pave on the band beyond the baguettes...that will also play down the icyness.
