I don't particularly like the redesigned Voyageuse. The belt-straps gave the bags such a cool and edgy vibe. It doesn't quite make sense to have such a big marketing push for the line, only to have such a huge redesign.
I'm trying to decide between the small black leather Voyageuse with the Longchamp print, or the suede in either khaki or navy...

So much suede on a bag always makes me nervous. The black leather one would hold up better over time - care-free :D

I understand what you mean. I also liked the wraparound belt and the exaggerated flared handles on the original small Voyageuse. I wish they could have found a way to retain those elements, while just making the bag a little bigger and more importantly changing the opening on top so it was wider and easier to access things inside. The redesign looks more practical and user-friendly but also less distinctive.

I thought the straps could be undone by snapping open the snap buttons since the zippers go all the way down on either ends of the bag? Or are you referring to the opening itself? I haven't seen this bag in person yet.

The belt straps don't really interfere with the opening of the small Voyageuse. The problem is the opening itself is small, around the size of my fist. And you've got lots of leather dragging on your hand when trying to access stuff inside, because the short sides of the bag curve inward and the top leather flaps where the zipper attaches are cumbersome and get in the way. You can get an idea from the stock pic below.

I tried out the bag at least three times in the boutique and I just didn't think it could work for me. And I have a pretty high tolerance for small and finicky bags if I like the overall look.

I agree with everything you've said, so true! You have more patience than me though - I just tried the bag once and it was errrr, no haha
