I see the 'face' when the leathers are different, and then only when looking. I generally don't sit around looking at my bag, unless the leather treatment has been a work of art. I've had 'box' bags before. So, nothing terribly bad so far...?

Yes, then you’ll probably like it. The leather is hardy. It should be easy maintenance.

OK, received my medium Mailbox today, and man - this is the most lightweight bag I've ever had, for this size. What bothers me is the odd 'grain'. I've had grained-leather bags before, but this takes the cake. It feels odd. It's plenty roomy, seems like it'd be easy to carry - but again - that feel. I guess I'd like this much better in a smooth leather.

ETA: It's like they were going for an Epi treatment and got sidetracked with Saffiano, which is not a good look for this bag, IMO.

I don't have firsthand experience with the Mailbox because I don't have a need for larger totes anymore, but I just had a look at some online pics and the leather seems fine to me personally. I'm sorry you don't like it. It doesn't necessarily have to be like another designers' textured leather for it to be ok, does it? Longchamp has a lot of experience with textured leathers. Maybe give it a few days and see if it grows on you, because it sounds like otherwise you like the style and the weight? In any event, I wish you a speedy and painless return if that's what you decide. Good luck and happy new year.

Don’t have any personal experience with other designer’s textured leather, because I won’t buy textured leather, as a rule. This slipped by me because I love LC products and have other items from LC.

You’d have to experience this leather @Cosmopolitan. Not bashing LC at all in no way; thanks for coming to their defense, though! Happy New Year and may 2022 be safe and wonderful for you, m’dear!

I wish you’d told me you didn’t buy textured leather! I would’ve warned you about it! It’s not like cuir leather, it’s more like Roseau leather.

By looks this is my favorite Longchamp bag and if I were to get a Longchamp, I think it would be this style. So interesting that there are almost no reviews and the one person in the thread who got it didn’t like it! There’s a Longchamp store in the major city near me, one day I hope to see it in person

Hello! Sorry I missed these messages, I have the small mailbox in sage and I do like it very much actually.
Pros: very light weight, I’m actually intrigued by the unusual grain and the fact that it’s textured means I don’t have to worry about getting scratches etc on it. The front zip compartment is deep enough for me to comfortably slip my 4 slot foulonne card holder in while still being able to zip it up.
The interior is actually really roomy, and I can put the essentials plus a small water bottle or umbrella easily. There’s an interior zipped pocket, and other open pockets. There’s a key fob strap like what you find in the top handle roseaus too.
Cons: The base is broad so when worn crossbody it may stick out. I’ve also realized the strap length is strangely different somehow when I bought my sage from Bicester versus an ivory that I tried in my local boutique, the ivory strap was much longer such that crossbody was ok and shoulder carry would be too long, while my sage is at an ok length for shoulder carry and too short for crossbody (the handles would be at my rib cage).
Some people also can’t un see the “face” look to it haha but it doesn’t bother me!
Hope this helps.
Some photos for your perusal :)

I eventually got the sage colour, the colour in this photo is lighter than actual colour IRL:

Love that it’s lined with matching fabric with the galloping horse logo.
Sorry it’s a bit dark here now so the lighting is not great.

I use the long strap for shoulder carry if I’m on the go, otherwise if I’m just bringing it to office at work and going by car then sometimes I just carry hand held without the long strap :)
The top handles can be carried by hand or in the crook of your arm easily, but definitely not on the shoulder for the small size.
