The weak yen and tax back really makes shopping in Japan super compelling. The panda hammock retails for S$5,500 but in Japan after tax back it is around S$4,150. Really had to tell myself that I really wouldn’t use the hammock (too short etc) and talk myself out of pulling the trigger remotely haha.
Is there any way to get tax back when you are not actually in the country?

Just received a few items from Saks and will post photos in a bit, but honestly the quality of this collection feels a bit iffy....

I got the Otter plain cardholder and the yellow seems to have a grayish hue under it showing through, the marquetry was poorly done with a "dent" causing a shadow in the leather and the leather feels plasticy smooth. I don't think any of my other satin calfskin items ever felt like this. At least they had that velvety feel leather usually has.

I also got the lemur felt charm and the leather leaves behind the lemur are classic calfskin which is great, but it's hanging by a few threads poorly done. It looks messy. I understand it's so the leaves stay flexible and floating but it's looks so cheap if you look at it. It also seems to be attached in the felt and not in the actual leather strap which would have been so much better.

The felting quality and look is still very good though and details/shape are beautiful. It's the actual construction that's a bit of a problem.

Anyone else being disappointed by the quality? Can't believe I'm talking about Loewe like I'm talking about Uniqlo or something.
I got the mandrake charm and I guess because felting is such an artisan dependent craft that each piece would look different and be finished to varying levels of success? My charm looks ok but also feels bordering on Etsy quality… I would have wanted it regardless but yes, it does seem the QC is a little bit worse this time round. I think they were again not prepared for how popular the collection could be and had to trickle stock flow as well as rush the items, which leads to a QC issue. But I also think satin calfskin is just not great to work with…

Agree - seems like they are pushing out production as high as they could, and telling us that a lot of faults are "handmade craftsmanship".

I totally get what you are saying with the Otter cardholder - my store only got 1 and the SA held it for me, but when I got there, I couldn't get over the grey markings on the yellow leather, despite several rubs from their care kit.

For the lemur charm - as much as I loved it, the piece that was reserved for me, the leaves were already almost falling off, barely hanging by threads, even the SA advised against getting it. The lemur was also a bit too high on the strap, so if I tried to loop it, I wouldn't have been able to easily get the leaves over the hoop. And imagine, doing that on a regular basis - the threads would for sure snap.

For the otter charm - I had to take a look at 5 different ones in the store. All of them had faults with the exception of the last. Either the eyes for the otter were not straight, or the ears were misaligned... The kid on the 4 had a frown, not a smile. Worst thing was the teddy bear... Like, he looked like a shriveled non-stuffed bear in all of them, the kind that you get from Build a Bear before stuffing. I get that these things are handmade and part of the charm are the subtle difference... but that's the thing, subtle differences, not something that is obviously clear.

My penguin sweater just came and the packaging is so cute!

I want to keep it for the packaging alone almost. The sweater itself is super cute, but my skin is pretty sensitive and it feels itchy even in the five minutes I tried it on, though it's not terrible. It's also super cropped and hits around my belly button even though I sized up a bit to get a Large. But I just love the detail of the penguins so I'm on the fence.
