Loewe x Spirited Away

I find Wave 1 of LV x YK to be quite a throwaway and lazy collection - it's really just a bunch of polka dots on bags and clothes. The only nice range (to me) is the white colored collection from the Men's side but the collab markup is quite insane.

I definitely have more faith in the Loewe x Ghibli collections but Howl's is not one of my faves from the studio, and that leaked Amazona design is very meh to me, so hopefully the rest of the collection will excite me more. We are actually going to be travelling in Japan during the rumored launch date, so unfortunately we may not have access to any VIP previews/presales this time round, but we will get to see the items in Japan itself, if they are not all sold out.

Anyone else skipping the LV x Yayoi Kusama collection to save up for Loewe x Howl’s Moving Castle?

This is my conundrum. I’ve been saving up for Loewe. Didn’t know about the YK collection. But I just saw her Kiragami set and I need it. But then I won’t have enough money to get a bag from the Howl’s collection.

I'm the opposite, as I love Kusama and am a bit meh on Howl. I didn't initially think I'd want anything from the Kusama collection because the painted dots aren't actually very Kusama-y, but I like the infinity dots series - the red/white or yellow/black products with pumpkins on. Plus the only LV bag I really wanted was an Alma BB, in a brightly coloured epi leather, with yellow as the top choice ... and here comes a yellow epi leather Kusama Alma BB with a pumpkin charm. I'm not a hard no on the Loewe collection but I don't feel I like the film enough to get something large like a bag (famous last words ...).

I never intended to buy from the LV x YK collection to begin with (few LEs even catch my interest). Howl’s is also not one of my fav Ghibli movies (unlike Totoro and Spirited Away), so it’s unlikely I will buy something. But I will watch out for pre-views out of curiosity.

Anyone else skipping the LV x Yayoi Kusama collection to save up for Loewe x Howl’s Moving Castle?

I’ve been eyeing the yellow Alma BB but I’d rather wait for the Loewe x Howl’s first. I’d like to have something from each of the 3 collabs with Studio Ghibli.

Noticed that Studio Ghibli’s Twitter has been posting Howl’s content lately too. It’s also the 50th anniversary of Loewe’s opening in Japan, so I really hope this collection will be beautiful.

I wanted to get the lv yk mini pochette, but it’s 200€ more than the already increased price, so it’s most probably a no for me. it’s gorgeous tho I think.. the 3d dots are made very well

I love Howl's! It's one of my favorites besides Spirited Away. I was actually hoping it'll be a different movie for my poor dear wallet. Oh well! lol

They made a big collection from LV x yk, but it’s not my cup of tea.
I was hoping the Ghibli collection would be out now, I think they wanted to present the rabbits first because Ghibli is more popular.
And if it’s Howl, I really want something with the dog Heen.

I am torn as I love the Kusama stuff, too. Ordered the LV x KY Keepall 25 because I like the luggage style and have been eying that model anyway (also that colorway is usable for everyday business…). Though I have to say that I much prefer the Loewe leather of course. I love how soft and velvety the leather is to touch and they are so beautifully made.
If I keep the Keepall, I guess I need to hold back on Loewe Ghibli or perhaps just a small piece. Though Howl‘s not my favorite, too. But I am sure Loewe will produce something cute one wants to have anyway…

I had the same thought with the painted dots...I am much more familiar with her work where dots/spheres are extremely symmetrical. The playful dots with multi-colors I guess are a nod to her obliteration rooms? Maybe I need to study YK's work more to appreciate it but my gut reactions was I didn't love that part of the collection.

Lunar New Year is January 22 - super early this year! That’s most likely the reason why the rabbit collection is out before Ghibli.

Looks like they’re building a big pop up for Howl’s in London, just got confirmation from the SA it’s coming next month. Wish it was Kiki, but I love this film too, so will make the trip to my local store.

If you search Howl's Moving Castle LOEWE on google, you'll get an actual page for the Japanese site, but it leads to nothing at the moment.

I wonder if this collection will have massive demand. You can't deny that Spirited Away and Totoro attract more attention and are preferred over Howl. But I think there's a lot of potential for this collection to be the most beautiful out of all. Now let's hope the release goes better than Spirited Away....
