Hey, everyone! I've been working my way through the threads as I gear up for the next procedures on my wishlist, fat grafting and under eye fat repositioning. I really appreciate the honest reviews and advice here, so I wanna offer up one of my own. This one is about my latest procedure, the lip lift I got at Girin Plastic Surgery.

I have wanted to get a lip lift since before I even knew what it was. My natural lips are very flat, especially my top lip, so they look a bit like duck lips to me from the side. It's as if my top lip is too long, but really it's just missing volume and an upward curl. I've had surgeries for sports injuries and plastic surgery and always had an interest in transformations and surgical procedures. Here's a list of what I've had done in Korea so far:

● Nose tip plasty on 2019/02/04 with a clinic by Gangnam Station I can't seem to remember or find, but I'm pretty sure I used DocFinder Korea
● Revision Rhinoplasty, Ptosis Correction + Upper Blepharoplasty, Double Chin Liposuction, Thread Lifting (8 threads) on 2022/01/03 with Mina Plastic Surgery via Seoul Guide Medical (also got lip and under eye filler here later via SGM)
● Lip, under eye, and laugh lines filler on 2022/12/17 with Vands in Hongdae
● Underarm botox (100 units) on 2022/12/19 with Muse Clinic
● Lip lift on 2023/05/29 at Girin Plastic Surgery

(I can make another thread about any of these other experiences, but this one will be a review of my most recent plastic surgery experience, a lip lift at Girin PS, since everything is still fresh in my mind.)

Naturally, after getting a few plastic surgery procedures under my belt, I looked into how to achieve my ideal lip and sought out a clinic. I did a lot of casual research on different lip lift methods and kept an eye out for clinics that had in-house translators. I've had some bad experiences with agencies. When I noticed Girin PS's Facebook page and recalled seeing their sign on a building across the street from where I got my lips tattooed, I got interested. I checked their website and saw that they had accounts on loads of social media platforms and a lot of content to sift through, so I felt more comfortable. It was also very clear that Girin PS is very foreigner-friendly with all the languages available on their site. With that I was ready to check Girin PS out in person, ready to bail at the slightest suspicion, but my experience was quite the opposite. I was prepared for battle, but the English Team at Girin PS made my socially anxious self feel so at ease almost instantly. Heather, the translator who set all my appointments up via Facebook Messenger, was the first to meet me after I checked in with the receptionists. She was very sweet and candid, chatting with me while we waited for a consultation room to open up since I was early. Then I had my consultation with Jade, who I really connected with since we are both from the States. She was very easy to talk to and never made me feel rushed. When I went through agencies, I always felt like we were short on time and the atmosphere was so stiff I couldn't muster the courage to ask questions. Again, I'm an introvert with social anxiety, and she really made me feel at home. I was a bit nervous about meeting the surgeon, Dr. Lee, but I genuinely felt taken care of. It's usually stressful for me when the surgeons look me over since they have to get so close to my face, but he has this sense of kindness in his eyes. It seems like a little thing, but it was a big deal for me since I've had bad experiences with male doctors in particular in the States. Dr. Lee also gave me quite a bit of his time and gave me multiple chances to ask questions. I set the surgery date that visit, because I felt so confident about how things went, and I really felt like I would be in good hands this time.

It was definitely a plus that I could get the initial part of my consultation done online via whichever social media platform suited me best, since Girin PS is about a 45 minute train ride from where I live. Unlike my experiences with the other clinics I have been to via agencies, communication was quick and comfortable. I liked that they spoke to me in a more familiar friendly manner to match how I addressed them. Again, a seemingly small thing, but formalities are suffocating for me. I always felt like I could ask them any silly question I had, which is great because I'm the kinda person who needs lots of clarification to feel assured.

Honestly, I've never experienced anything even close to this at all the other clinics I've been to, and I plan on getting another procedure done with Girin PS. I went in ready to duck out at the second I felt a red flag coming along, but I really feel like this clinic was a perfect fit for me. My lip lift is healing beautifully, even correcting the uneaven scar I had from my nose surgeries. I'm really looking forward to the final result, and I hope this review is helpful for at least some of you. I have the before, one day post-op, and 7 days post-op pictures attached. I couldn't find a clear picture of the scars Dr. Lee seems to have cleaned up, but you can see that my septum in the before almost looks crooked.

Let me know if you have any questions or need clarification. This is my first time making a review, so sorry if it's kinda sloppy. I'll be taking notes for the next one

On the day of the lip lift surgery, Heather stayed with me until operation preparations started since I was early again, and I met Angela, another translator. She did a great job keeping me calm while the anesthesiologist went to work. For all my other surgeries, I've always felt very panicked and lightheaded while getting IVs, but this was the first time I was completely fine. I didn't even have any of the usual nervousness leading up to the surgery. The aftercare was also very simple, and communications with the Girin PS English Team were timely and thorough, like I mentioned before. They made sure I knew what to expect with the healing process, which was a great relief for how anxious I would have been otherwise.

When it came time to take my stitches out on the 10th day, I had to wait a little longer than expected for my check-up with my surgeon, Dr. Lee, since he was still finishing up in the OR with another patient, which was not a big deal for me. I made sure I had ample time for the appointment just in case, but the staff were still very apologetic and careful with my time. Even one of the receptionists, who had helped me check in that day, attempted to make me feel taken care of by shooting little hearts at me while my translators debated the best options for me. Again, it's a little gesture, but it goes to show that all the employees as a team worked to make me feel as comfortable and cared for as possible. He could have just kept his head down and continued working on his computer and left me to stare into space.

The fact that the Girin PS staff continue to take good care of me even after surgery really impresses me, because all of the others gave me "turn and burn" vibes once I had gone under the knife. I know most big plastic surgery clinics are busy, but they should at least be consistent, right? Anyway, I'm still really happy with how naturally enhanced my lips look and how cared for I feel.

Great result! Update us with the scar healing process!
Thank you! Here's the scar almost a month after surgery. Do note that I have an old lip tattoo that's fading, so that's why some of the skin on my lip might look a little questionable.

I'll also attach a picture of the scar cream Girin PS staff recommended. You can find it at Olive Young for about ₩23,000.

ur lips look weird. Doesn’t look lift. It is still drooping down at the side.
If you're referring to my lips in the latest pictures, that's because I took them at an upward angle so you could clearly see the stitches under my nose. My top lip is naturally flat, like I mentioned, so that might be what you're mistaking as drooping. I'll be getting filler in my top lip in about a week once we're sure all swelling is gone so it'll be as balanced as possible.
