Less well known but still good quality jewelry?

I wonder, are you in a hurry to add this piece? Because I think you need to explore a lot more in person before looking at online brands. In my experience, pictures online do not necessarily translate well with necklaces, because I need to try them to see how they sit on my (short) neck, lol.

If you have any chance to travel to different cities around you that have more stores, it'll help you a lot. Just touch, try, take pics. Then do image searches on the styles you liked best on you and see what brands come up with a similar aesthetic.
Jewellery shows are a great suggestion, but also totally overwhelming if you're not entirely sure what it is you want.

Alternatively, if you have friends who are into jewellery irl, you can look at their necklaces and try on, to figure out the styles that currently speak to you and then go from there.

I asked a friend who often orders custom jewellery and she recommended FerriFirenze for the attached pendant styles you want. From a quick google, the pieces are unique (and pricey). I'd urge you to do more research due to the cost involved but, I hope the recommendation helps a little. :)

I've thought about custom but not sure what I want really , so I haven't explored that much.
@caruva, did you know exactly what you wanted and they crafted it for you? Or do they have a few choices to show you?

Only two tiny local jeweler stores here, one mostly has used watches and I had a poor experience with the other so I'm not inclined to purchase from them.

No options for local artisans or anything similar.

Pomellato doesn't really seem my style , I will look at Marco Bicego thank you!
In one instance yes. In the other not really and recommendations were made. Side stone options shown, designs drawn up.

I'm in Australia by the way. Wouldn't hesitate to do a remote order again. I trust both vendors mentioned more than local. 😅

Aren't these 2 jewelry shows only open to those in the trade and not to the general public?
I have attended both of these shows the past 2 years as a regular civilian lol I bought tickets to wpb for maybe $30 and Miami a friend gave me ticket so not sure if she had an industry connection or not. I do believe its geared toward industry at "wholesale" type prices but it really varies. Very easy to spend $$$$ but also fun to just look.

Yes you did recommend that and I totally forgot so thank you so much for reminding me!
Is it a place where you have to know what to look for or does everyone have fair prices?
I tried walking around the nyc 47th street jewelry district a while ago and felt so overwhelmed; I would not really know how to judge if something is overpriced or excellent quality.
I think you would probably be overwhelmed by Miami show so maybe try the palm beach one first. It’s definitely more intimate but still a good start with some really nice pieces. Probably 150 vendors versus 600 vendors. That's not all jewelry, but the majority are. I prefer the overall vibe of the palm beach show personally but I have alot of fun at the Miami show. Just a different energy. I love and look forward to both. You could make a little vacation out of it. Let me know if you decide to attend and want any other advice re the shows or recommendations while in the area.

ETA: Just looked up dates and this is interesting... palm beach show Feb 12-17 (same time it always is) and Miami, though historically has been in January, looks like it's going to be March 26-30 next year. Which means if you attend Palm Beach and would like to try Miami, you can still do so without having to wait another entire year.

Thank you so much everyone for the excellent ideas and advice! You are right I definitely need to try things on in person, not just view online . I'm not in a hurry at all and I want to get it right.
Probably not doing much travel with the kids home all summer, but if I do, I will definitely try to get to some jewelry stores.

Thank you @stacy_natalie for the info about the jewelry shows, I think smaller is the way to go.

@etoupebirkin tysm for your offer!

I love the idea of custom in theory, in reality I'm nervous about making the right choice sight unseen especially since I don't really have a good idea of what I'm looking for

Used to have a jeweller who had been helping my extended family but she is retired. I think she did a great job! Most importantly a trustworthy person.

I tried a couple of other jewellers and decided I can keep to one. He
has helped me with some customised pieces. Love the idea of personalisation. Not as in stamping my name but I could tell him exactly how I want it to turn out. Example, the exact bracelet length, the chain type, the clasp (I only like that specific lobster claw clasp), and I even can ask it to be made for a left handed person. Pisses me when I like a necklace but it’s all made for a righty lol.

The quality is great; i feel he fairly prices his work. And i am not affiliated. Just sharing my experience. Not sure if I should post here; can PM me if you like to give him a shot. He is in Singapore; ships pretty much worldwide.

Doesn't sound like it's for you. I think the good thing is, when you do finally get what you want, you will just know it's the right one. I hope it finds its way to you soon. ❤️

In the meantime enjoy shopping around and update us if you find 'the one'.

Hi! You have gotten a lot of great advice, and I'll add my two cents.
Based on what you said as your criteria:
White gold, Long necklace, Not a small pendant, Does not have to be high-end brand, Not sure about custom design...

Since you do not have to have a high-end brand, I would suggest Roberto Coin. He is a mid-tier brand, and you can buy him online at Bloomies, NM etc. For me, I would put Roberto Coin in the same mid-tier category as Temple St. Clair and David Yurman. Of the three, I think Roberto Coin's aesthetic is more in line with VCA's aesthetic which is more feminine glamour (Temple St.Clair's aesthetic to me is more Roman bold yellow gold, and David Yurman's aesthetic to me is more unisex industrial). Roberto Coin also carries white gold pieces with a feminine design.

Here are two pieces I suggest:

First... I love lockets, and I love big bold ones hanging on a long chain! Roberto Coin's lockets are also three-dimensional and have a lot of character, not flat and plain like typical lockets. The first two on the left are offered in white gold. I also like the paper clip chain as it gives the total look a bit more character, a feminine locket, yet a strong look.

This is a lariat, which has the dangle look of the VCA 6-motif that you like. It's a simpler more feminine look. Dakota Johnson is the new spokesperson for Roberto Coin, so if you google Dakota Johnson Roberto Coin, you will see her wear this lariat (and other pieces as well). I posted a photo as FYI.

Just my two cents to give you some ideas on a necklace. Hope this helps. Good luck!
