I ended up ordering the Dalia in taupe and it just arrived. It’s beautiful! I was a bit worried it would be the exact same color as my Polène Neuf in taupe but they are actually different shades. The Polène is lighter, with a beige undertone whereas the Dalia almost has a hint of mauve to it. The hardware is gold but almost looks rose gold to me (might be the color of the bag reflecting into it). I’m glad I ordered the additional shoulder strap as I intend to carry it on the shoulder more. The capacity is good but definitely smaller than the Grand Nova, it fits all my essential but without much room to spare. I’m including a picture with my Neuf if anyone else is wondering about the shade.

I just received my third (and last for a long while) Leo et Violette bag. I went with the Laurence in black. It’s so beautiful I was a bit hesitant because the leather is described as “patent” on the US website but it’s not. It’s a shiny box leather, very similar to Givenchy Antigona’s box leather which I love. I have to say, I was very surprised about the size when I opened the package. I thought it would be a medium-sized bag based on the pictures I’ve seen but it’s more of a mini bag. It fits about the same as the Dalia or maybe a tad less since the back pocket doesn’t fit my phone, and definitely less than the Grand Nova. It works for me though as I can still fit everything I need for the day. So far, I love it! Happy to post pictures when I get a chance if anyone is interested in this bag ☺️

I just received my first Leo et Violette bag- the Grand Nova in bleu denim. I have to say I’m very impressed with the quality and practicality of the bag. It’s very comfortable to wear crossbody and fits all my essentials. The back pocket is a definite plus as it fits my phone (iPhone 12 mini). I have a few Polène bags and while the styles and leathers are different I’d say the quality and craftsmanship are comparable for sure. Delivery to NYC was incredibly fast as well, I ordered on Saturday, it shipped Monday and was with me yesterday. It was nicely packaged in the dust bag and a paper shopping bag. I’m now eyeing a Dalia.

I’d love to get your opinion on the nova vs the grand nova! Do you have any mod shots of the Grand Nova on you? I’m 5’5” and concerned the grand nova might look too big on me.

I don’t own a regular Nova but the Grand Nova is the right size for me. I’m 5’5” and a US size 6 and it looks like a medium size bag on me and fits what I need. I do prefer it with a jacket or coat on though to balance out proportions since it is a crossbody.

What do you think about the quality of Dalia? I’m concerned about the hardware, and the leather is easily scratched?! Thx!

So far I haven’t had any issues. The leather is beautiful and resistant to scratches. This bag is in my regular rotation and it looks brand new. The only thing that annoys me is that the little metal piece that you clip the shoulder and crossbody straps to is a bit small so if like me you like to have both on at once you do have to wiggle a bit to get them off for storage and I’m worried it will get scratches overtime.

Thank you for your review, this is hugely helpful!

Are you still enjoying this bag? Has it held up well for you?

I found Leo et Violette from one of the other PurseForum threads, and ending up getting the Le Gianni Baguette bag referenced a few posts back. I was wondering if anyone else had a similar experience, since it's my first time getting a bag from them. I found the quality to be not great. Maybe my standards are too high?

The front of my bag looked great, but on the back there was a small scratch in the leather on top left, and then there were all these small white marks all along the back. Is this normal?

Yes- it’s definitely a bag that I still enjoy wearing. I don’t wear it everyday though because of the size. It’s holding up really well so far, my only issue with the bag is that you can see finger prints on it because of the leather. They’re easy to wipe but you can’t avoid touching the bag all the time because of the way it opens and closes. Overall, definitely a bag I’m happy to have in my collection.

Oh I’m sorry to see this! I have the Dahlia in the same color and leather and haven’t had any issues with this so I would say this is not normal.

Review of Leo et Violette new bag Le Gianni Baguette in Taupe

...and my first post here!

I was introduced to this brand on TPF, and this is my first Leo et Violette purchase. I thought I'd write a review of my experience to help others choose, as some of the info on the forum could be outdated.

I was drawn to this bag because I like the baguette but I normally go for more structured, angular bags. When I am trying a new style, I like to try out with a more affordable bag first, before investing in an expensive designer bag.

Moreover, most baguettes are 90's style with a short, fixed strap. I like to wear mine as a crossbody, so this bag was a good fit for my needs. It also fits my large phone, passport, keys, makeup, small wallet.

Packaging: the bag arrived in a discreet box, double packed in its canvas bag together with a Leo et Violette 10-year anniversary tote. Honestly, I don't mind not having tons of designer cardboard boxes lying around...

The leather is real (!), smells beautiful, and has a medium sheen to it. It's quite scratch-resistant (I tried on the back pocket). It feels a little thin, but time will tell how it holds off. I think colour transfer shouldn't be a problem.

This bag is "structured soft". The seams create structure, but it is not a box bag or overly firm, more like a Fendi baguette style. It's light to carry. The downside of the softness is if I overfill the bag, the clasp becomes difficult to close.

Comes with 2 straps which both have a little padding in them too. To exchange the strap, simply open 2 buckles.

The description on the website says suede lining. It's not, the lining is beige cotton. I'm OK with this, but I wonder if it's a translation error on their website.

Glue residue. The finishing of the bag is not quite like designer brands, with some glue residue on the leather and scratches on the gold-plated metal hardware.

Overall, despite these few little imperfections, it's a cute bag that is super practical as a daily bag and I look forward to getting a lot of joy out of it! I love the taupe colour, I wear mainly black, navy and white so it will go with everything.
