Hi everyone, I've just recently came across this brand and I instantly fell in love with the Le Petit Violette. I'm very torn between the smooth and pebbled leather options. I already own several bags in pebbled leather and I really love the look of the smooth leather but I'm scared of it scratching easily and I don't want to have to baby the bag.
Does anyone have any experience with the smooth leather from L&V and can tell me how it wears??

I just ordered La Double Pochette in Camel for my job hunting. I'll let everyone know what I think.

Welllll, I would say that it's okay, and it serves its purpose (something to carry to interviews). But the leather doesn't smell particularly nice and the prominent clasp on the front has a small pinhead of gold color missing. I'm going to try and get a gold marker or something to cover that flaw up because it's not worth the hassle trying to send it back.

I don't know that I would buy from them again. This was a unique piece that fit a unique need. For anything else I think I could get the same or better quality.

I just received my Petit Violette bucket bag today and was really looking forward to using it. The delivery was super fast ... even though I live in Asia. However when I took the bag out of the box/ packaging, realize the bag has a obvious ugly scratch on the front/ lower front..... Likely due to the way they pack and put the lookbook on top of the bag. They definitely need to package their products better!! Like never put a book with sharp corners that scratch or dent the smooth leather...

Other than that defect, the leather smells great... The petit bucket is smaller than i expected but it’s cute and overall seems really high quality. Even the bucket strap opening was v smooth to tighten or loosen. I am hoping that it will be a good alternative for LV neo noe bb.

Think someone else asked if smooth leather is durable. Well, this one didn’t even survive the shipping process.

Oh no, that's terrible! How frustrating. I am surprised it isn't better packaged, and it makes me think twice about ordering one (I am considering the exact same bag in smooth leather). Smooth leather is so much nicer, in my opinion, than pebbled leather, but I recognize that it will show wear much more easily. And apparently it may not even arrive pristine.

Disappointing but I’ll survive. [emoji1] Shipping is not free so it should arrive pristine. I think the company should improve on this if they want to ship internationally. Oh well. I’ll just focus on enjoying my new bag.

An update.

I have informed Leo et Violette of the dent on the bag caused by shipping and I’ve received an immediate response from the customer service (probably the owner himself). I’m happy they even bother to respond (trust me, not every online seller bothers eg RM). The customer service was concerned as they have not encountered any problems with shipping before. He also apologized and advised with use the dent/ mark will be less obvious as the leather softens. Also i received an immediate full refund of the shipping fees. At least an online seller who takes customer feedback seriously. I will definitely consider repurchasing from them again. :)

Update: I ended up ordering the Petit Violette in the smooth leather and it's scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Now, after reading that qann77's bag arrived dented, I'm a bit worried as the wear of the smooth leather was exactly what made me hesitate in the first place..

Well I have been using the bag for a couple of days now and I found that I really really enjoy using the bucket bag. The smooth leather smells nice and feels wonderful. It has also surprisingly survived bumps here and there from strangers in crowded places ... So perhaps I just had a lousy experience with DHL shipping? The dent on the bag from the rough shipping is still there but it didn’t take away the joy of using the bag. I’m glad I chose smooth instead of pebbled leather as pebbled leather while more durable just doesn’t “spark joy” to me. Also I usually rotate my bags out every week but now I am a little reluctant to rotate out of this....

Hope you enjoy your new bag like I do!

Thank you so much! That certainly gives me hope :) I chose the smooth leather for the exact same reason. Although the pebbled leather is more durable, it's just not as chic and refined. I'll definitely give an update once my bag's arrived! I'm so excited!

I wanted to share how thrilled I was with the Leo et Violette backpack! I got the Le petit backpack in blue-marine and the size was excellent: compact and light but large enough to fit my daily belongings. (The ankh dangle is from my La Carmina blog trip to Egypt, it doesn't come with the bag!)

I included a close up of the full grain calf leather and stitching, I was impressed by the smoothness and creaminess of the leather. I wanted a backpack that was timeless but had enough personality / uniqueness to stand out and match my Gothic / 90s Goth Grunge style, and I thought this was a great fit.

I like Leo et Violette's approach to fair practices and prices, I personally prefer indie designers like them over big name luxury purse brands. Also agree with other posters that their personal customer service, with replies from the owner, is spot on.
