My husband and I have totally different taste in jewelry. I never expect to get jewelry from him (and I'm rarely disappointed!) I buy my own, love to pick it out and wear it, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest that my husband doesn't participate or buy for me. get what you like and enjoy wearing it!

I always buy my own jewelry. I never have to return it, and since I'm spending my own $$, I am 100% sure that it is worth the expense.

My SO's family does own a jewelry store, and he has excellent taste, so he does have some input, however!

yes, right now Im on that mindset. I do have a very loving SO, but I don't think he has a clue as to what kind of jewelry I would like.

Also I want to start buying some really nice jewlry (diamonds etc.) I have a lot of fashion jewelry and it would be nice to have something really nice.

You guys are giving me great ideas. i really want to get me a diamond tennis bracelet or some diamond studs, also that "right hand" ring.

Studs or a tennis bracelet are great ideas for buying for yourself. As one poster says, don't wait for someone else to buy for you,you might be waiting forever!! And do you treat yourself to other things?? If you do,this is just the same!
My dh is great when it comes to things like that,he knows my tastes very well, but even with that he'll always run something by me first. The fact he has seen something and thought of me is lovely enough!!
And as for a right hand ring, long before me and dh were a distant thought,I bought myself a really heavy platinum band with a little diamond set in it,I just love it,and 8 years on,I'm still wearing it!! So go treat yourself!! Its a very empowering feeling to treat yourself to something as great as jewellery!

One last demand hunny, post pics when you get something ok!!??? xxx:heart:

My mother once said "Never rely on a man to buy you anything. If you want it, YOU get it"

She meant flowers, which I constantly buy myself, and jewelry, which I did up until I was married but he loves that stuff so much, and has such good taste, I let him LoL

But when I was single, if I had the money, a-shoppin I would go! And I never feel guilty about the couples in the joint. I mean, HEY, I'm young, single, fabulous, and buying it for myself! I don't need anyone! But I would like a right hand ring, sir, could I try that one on? ;)

I'm a Jeweler so I just make my bold/platinum jewelry and buy my own diamonds.

Been married 8 years and frankly I would be very, very scared at the abomination that my husband would pick out. I would end up with a necklace with a flushable toilet pendent or something.

ROFL! :roflmfao:

when I was single I never bought myself jewelry but only because I was never into diamonds back then. I'm still not too fascinated by them except for my engagement ring.

I'm married and have lots of jewelry I've bought for myself, lots from my husband, and lots that were gifts from other people. If I like the jewelry, I'll take it any way I can get it. Many of my more expensive pieces are things I've bought myself (my diamond studs, for example.) I would never expect anyone else to buy me something really pricey, so when I want stuff like that I consider it my responsibility to fund the purchase.

I never buy my own jewelry - thus far it's been gifts from parents, and some gifts from my SO. I'm happy with my current collection, but I have been considering buying myself a tennis necklace.

Never be afraid to buy something wonderful for yourself!
I'm single (divorced) and love to shop for jewelry. I have much nicer jewelry than my married friends, because the husbands won't spend the money!

my bf surprised me with earrings for our last anniversary but i really didn't like them and had them returned. he was quite hurt that i didn't like it too, which sucked. he has also surprised me with a necklace i didn't like either, but i ended up keeping that one because i didn't have the heart to tell him. since then i have made sure to drop clear hints...

therefore, i think it's nice to buy your own jewelry since you'll get exactly what you want. too bad i don't have the money right now--i have to rely on my parents.

I'm engaged & i buy myself diamond jewellery. I get lovely gifts off my fiance on special occasions & sometimes for no reason but if i see something i like & i've got the money i get it because why not, you only live once!!

Get spending :D
