Hey there ladies

Forgive me if this is redundant.

I'm confused..I've never been good at authenticating the earliest bags, and my research has left me puzzled.

I've always wanted one of the smooth black le dix firsts, but I'd probably like the caribou also of I saw it in person.

But I'm lost as to what order they were issued in, and which label goes with what leather? And if they are all flat brass or not? Do they have mirrors and straps?

And is there a dark blue one too?

Also does anyone have one of the original 25, and how do we know that's the number.

Again forgive me if these are dumb questions. When I searched I got a big jumble and some expired pics.

Thanks if you don't mind walking me through this....

@Conni618 posted these photos from @RealDealCollection 's old website...

From what I understand, it went:
1- Original 25,
2- Wider release of Le Dix bags (with the gold embossed tag and with the Second Season style tag) all in the same F/W 01 season with straps - the greatest way to ID a F/W 01 bag is that the zippers don't have stops at the end
3- Smooth and Caribou in Season 2 (or S/S 02), with mirror and strap - these tags are not gold and have "Balenciaga" with "Paris" underneath, while the zippers have stops

Apparently there was a Navy FBF in F/W 01...!

Some of the probable 01s (with no zipper stops) have the inner tag simply debossed..some have the gold print as well.. whether or not they are actually from the original 25 is questionable since several of us have managed to buy one. It’s fun to imagine, but the bags are pretty wonderful either way. This one has the gold print.

Navy?

I should just give up keeping this straight. Embossed...Embossed?

Im.sorry. I'm a hopeless case. If I see one by the time I find someone to authenticate it, it would probably be bought by someone else.

😕 sigh

Oh wow! I did not notice that! Should have considered the possibility because, I believe @Deco has a dark blue Village from the first season. Hope someone here stumbles on to it!

Damn.. so there is a navy... and what i would say as imprinted is debossed.

I only just started wanting one of these, but it's hard to fix the handles once they go limped at the connection to the bag, right? Or can that be corrected by LMB?

From what I heard from someone here ;), LMB puts in new tubes to restore the handles so they're firm again.
Shrinking the leather would be possible as well in some cases. But I'd trust LMB to do what's best for the bag.
