Laptops in Birkin/Kelly Bags

I've got an 11 inch macbook and fits without case in a B35. I have a bag insert in my B so would theoretically provide protection of both B leather and macbook. That being said, would only carry like this a short distance eg from carpark to library. Theoretically. Prefer to carry Birkin as handbag and then have macbook in its case in a rough and ready tote with all my other things.

The issue is really more that the weight of the MacBook will stretch out the bag.

I carry my MacBook Air (the smallest size) in my b30s. Doesn’t add too much weight but I only carry to and from the car, I drive to work door to door. I try to avoid carting it in my swift b though, as I’m afraid it will stretch out the leather. Togo on the other hand has no issues. Please do not carry any laptop or anything too heavy in your Kelly. I used to carry my MacBook in my k32 and the turn lock crooked from the weight. I had the turnlock replaced at spa luckily, at an acceptable price.

I carry a 13" MBP and its charger in my B35s. The Barenia B doesn't stretch, the handles are like iron. With Togo, the handles will stretch if the bag is overloaded, so I try not to carry it around like that TOO much. However a tote is a tote and I need a laptop every day, so I see nothing inappropriate in my primary work tool going into my daily tote. (The exception, I do NOT put full camera gear in a Birkin - my cameras with anything but a small lens weigh much more than a laptop and would stretch most normal bags.)
I have used my B35s with laptops for years and years with no impact on anything but the handles.
I wouldn't put a real laptop in a B30, though, and if I carry a Kelly to work I either use a laptop sleeve with strap or a separate large tote like a GP.

For those who don't like to carry their laptops in their Birkins, what do you tote your laptop to and from work, or while travelling in? Do you carry at the same time as your Birkin?
Does anyone have a B35 in Epsom that they use with a laptop?

When traveling I tuck my laptop into the outside laptop pocket of my Rimowa Salsa Hybrid rolling suitcase. I used to put my MacBook Air into my B35s or B40s when I had it, but now the new MacBook Pro is just too heavy. I use a GP tote for day to day when I have to carry the MBP.

My MacBook Pro does not fit in my B30. I also would think that kind of weight would take a beating on the Togo leather. I do use a full sized iPad and it fits (and carries) in my B30 quite well.

I have a K28 coming. Hopefully, the iPad will also fit without damaging the bag...but if it doesn’t, it’s not a deal breaker for me.

I have a couple of options for the laptop - one is a super thin, just covers the laptop, no strap sleeve. I got mine from my job. This is to use in a bag. I also have a sleeve with a detachable shoulder strap that can technically fit in some bags or to carry separately. It's not as thin so it provides more protection but is still lighter than a conventional laptop bag and I can carry the charger in it also.

i can recommend the 39cm Herbag as a tablet/laptop bag. I bought mine for client on site meetings and it holds my ipad Pro, I use the removable pouch for my different drawing stylus and the outside pocket is great for my phone and keys. It would definitely hold my 13” laptop and no worries about stretching out the canvas or the hunter leather as the hardware holds the weight.

That's such a fantastic idea MSO13 - thank you!

I've seen this addressed very briefly in previous threads, but I'm hoping we can have a thread dedicated to figuring this out: which laptops comfortably/realistically fit in each B/K size?

I have a 2-pound Macbook (11.04" x 7.74") that might technically fit into a B 30/35 or a K 28/32 based on the dimensions alone, but that doesn't take ease of use into account (i.e. difficulty of getting laptop in and out of bag, is the extra weight too substantial comfort-wise or for the bag to handle, etc). It would be neat if we could eventually get some sort of master list going in the comments based on other's experiences. (I ask because I'm hoping to score a B or K before I turn 30 and would love to be able to fit my laptop inside it when need be. :graucho: )
Get a UNIQLO bag for this purpose. B/K i WILL NOT recommend. H bags are created to withstand time, not abuse. LOL
