Ladies' watches: better big or small these days?

I'm not a fan of the extreme oversize. My mom loves that look and has been wearing a men's Rolex or Panerai (I think those are 40mm) - it's definitely noticeable but I don't like to just see the face without the band/bracelet when looking head on.

I love my 31-34mm Rolexes. I have small wrists and those look great. 28mm is a little too dressy/mature for me.

I have tiny wrists so even though I like the aesthetic of the larger watches on others, for myself I wear small watches most days. I do have two large watches that were both gifts and they look ok, but are not very comfortable so I don’t wear them often and I do think the smaller watches just look better on my wrist. And I do like to wear a bracelet on the same wrist as my watch but with the bigger watches it gets overwhelming.

I wear small watches (26-33mm) most days. I also got a large men’s Tank Angelaise in the height of the “large watch” trend but at something like 41mm for the case it’s just too large for my wrist - it sort of sticks out and is actually too heavy to wear. Fear of carpal tunnel or something scared me right back to wearing my smaller watches.

I have two 31mm Rolex and two 33mm Chanel J12s. I also own a larger size Cartier Tank. I prefer to keep on the smaller size as I like to layer my watches with bracelets. I am also 5'11" and could carry off a larger watch I just personally don't like the look. I don't wear big jewelry, sunglassess or big handbags. I guess it's really about personal preference.

I prefer a smaller watch 26-28mm
A few years ago I was crazy about larger watches but I feel that for me (small, thin wrists) a smaller face is more classy and elegant

Only IMO but I think larger than 31 mm cannot do dressy very well, so less versatile. I have an older 26 mm Rolex Datejust that I use for dressy. My old eyes can't read the date any more unless in bright light but the face is white so I can still tell the time, LOL!

I have always loved big watches. Even before it was the style, like 20 years ago, I would but men's watches. Keep in mind that I am also petite (5'4, 110lbs), and The watches do look big on my wrist, I love it. I currently own a 2 toned submariner. This is a big rolex. I have been obsessed with this watch since I was 14 (no kidding). I finally got one when I was 30. I think it's 41mm. Now, I am saving for a staineless 36mm datejust with diamond dial and bezel. I am 35. I don't see myself going under 36 mm for a watch. And my mom will be buying a 36mm two toned datejust shortly, she's 65.

Hi everyone, I need some serious advice. I’m getting the series 3 38mm Iwatch but I have trouble debating between the stainless steel and the gold (more like a rose gold).... I’m not sure which of the new would match my gold jewelry more. I personal love gold jewelry and wants a watch that would go well with it. Would stainless steel go with gold Milanese loop or should i do the series 3 gold (but looks like rose gold) with Milanese look. Any advice is appreciated!!

I started wearing over-sized watches in the mid-eighties when I was in college and never moved away from them. I have two round faced watches that are 37, a square face that is 38, and a Tourneau that is 35x44! Needless to say, I was wearing them before the trend, during the trend and will continue long after the trend.

I think that it's just a matter of personal preference and that one isn't more in style than the other anymore.

I think the big watches are a trend right now especially those similar to a smart watch lol unfortunately, I have a small wrist so I cant use those big faced watches. it doesn't look good to me. I guess this is a trend I cant keep up with no matter how I like it!

I like big watches on other people but personally prefer small watches. The fact that they for the most part, don’t attract attention is a bonus. I just bought a small size Cartier Tank Francaise and I’m very happy with it!!!

Smaller watches for women were beginning to take hold just shy of a year before the OP. While some women can carry off a large watch, and other women prefer them regardless, the trend is now toward more "elegant" and "feminine" sizes. The giant men's watches are no longer trendy, although, again, many women will wear and enjoy them no matter what.
