Lab grown Diamonds - Thoughts?

I think there’s room for both lab and mined diamonds.

For things like studs and simple earrings, tennis bracelets, tennis necklaces, and the like, it’s perfectly fine to go for lab. Purchasing lab pieces, allows me to have fun without too much financial commitment.

I spend most of my jewelry budget on branded designs such as VCA, Cartier, Verdura, and Irene Neuwirth.

I love Maria Tash jewelry. I think these look stunning but it’s hard for you to feel that way because you don’t consider labs to be real. I understand but try considering these as fashion earrings same as we would consider Chanel Costume pieces.
Yeah in my mind it’s something higher than fashion jewelry but definitely lower than real diamonds.
I’ll feel ok wearing them during my travels knowing they’re not very expensive.

Oh interesting!
I personally think classic items like studs, solitaire necklace or a ring should be real diamonds of higher quality because that’s what I wear most of my time and have been wearing for decades. I know they went up in price by that time.
Lab diamonds are for something less classic and more fashionable like a pair of chandelier earrings for rare occasions. Just my opinion. I also tend to buy luxury clothes for every day wear and cheaper items for special occasions 😆

I’d much rather spend large sums of money on great designs, craftsmanship and materials other than diamonds.

Diamond studs are great. I have real and lab. I bought larger lab studs because I did not want to pay the premium for earth mined.

If I’m going to spend $$$ on a diamond piece, it’s going to be a piece with a unique design, e.g., VCA Lotus and Perlee.

I get weak kneed for emeralds.

ETA: My engagement ring is earth mined, as well as my (Graff) eternity band and tennis bracelets.

If I was young and collecting jewelry basics now, I would definitely consider lab diamonds.

Oh yes I love the Lotus ring but I almost never wear it, mine is too big and I need to resize it but haven’t taken it to the vca yet. The perlee bracelet I do wear quite often so it is a good purchase if consider cost per wear.
If it’s expensive I need to either wear it very often or have it increasing in value significantly like with my tourmaline paraiba items.

This is so smart. I’ve done the opposite lol 🫣😄

Just to be on the safe side, this message is for anyone who DOESN’T KNOW the main origin and value of lab diamonds, NOT for those who do:
I just wanted to show you all these paragraphs from Rapaport, regarding synthetic diamonds.
First thing I want you to note is where the largest supply of them are made. I’m not going into the details, because I don’t want to get into trouble or have this post deleted. If you know, you know.
Second, I want to point you to the part where it tells you the value of one carat, and what they’re currently selling for.
Third, I want you to look at the part where it tells you about retailers selling before consumers become aware of the true value.
(Top three paragraphs of screenshot.)
At least you can decide on whether it’s worth the money for you to purchase lab diamonds with a bit more information at hand.
There’s also a link to the original article, which is much longer:

Thanks for the heads up about the obviously biased articles from Rapaport which has a vested interest in the diamond trade. They incorrectly refer to lab-grown diamonds as synthetic. The FTC has deemed lab-grown as the correct term because they are actually diamonds - not synthetic or artificial. Rapaport has an agenda. Thanks again Hurrem for alerting us.

As I said in my post, it was written for the people who don’t know. I just want them to learn a few things the jewellery sellers and lab-grown diamond sellers certainly aren’t going to tell them. Is that okay with you?
As for Rapaport being biased, yep. Just as biased as the manufacturers, buyers, jewellers and sellers of lab-grown diamonds are. Aren’t we all biased? You have a bias against my original post, for example.
As for the FTC, well for a number of us (please don’t forget, we do come from all over the world in this community), what they say isn’t necessarily relevant - their opinion applies to one country, a country of three-hundred-and-fifty-million odd people, vs a world of eight billion odd people. So we aren’t compelled to believe everything the FTC says.
As for the word ‘synthetic’, what else do you use as a term for something which is man-made? Something which is proven to be different from its natural counterpart when tested with the correct technology? Are you also going to call it natural? I would assume, even if you use the term lab-grown, it’s makes it pretty obvious it is not natural. So if it’s not natural, then what exactly is it? Oh, that’s right, because I’ve already said it. It’s a ‘man-made, lab-grown diamond’.
Now if you want to buy them and wear them, I’m deliriously happy for you. Ecstatic. It’s wonderful, amazing, fantastic! Good for you! What a fabulous ending to this story!

It’s such a shame that we can’t all live and let live without resorting to undermining others’ choices, whatever those may be 🤷‍♀️ I’m not personally a fan of lab diamonds but respect the fact that many are and that they offer a financially accessible way to get a big diamond look - or for some, a way to buy diamonds of any size, given the cost of mined stones of quality. I don’t understand why this is so contentious… if you love lab diamonds, wear and enjoy them.. if you don’t, then don’t rain on the parade of those that do.

I’m not undermining her. I left information in my original post for those people who don’t know about them. My point was that they understand what they are buying, before they buy them.
I’m not raining on anyone’s parade.
If you wanna wear them, wear them - as long as you are aware of all sides of the debate.
Btw, did you not see the title of this thread? “Lab Grown Diamonds - Thoughts?” I didn’t realize only certain ‘thoughts’ on here matter, I thought it was for all opinions. I didn’t realize that there was an agenda, and that only positive opinions about lab-browns can be posted. So what, exactly is your problem? Are people’s posts only okay when they fall in line with certain people’s opinions? Like yours, or your friend’s?

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, no one said otherwise. However, you have already made it abundantly clear on this thread that you don’t like labs (neither do I, for the record), so I don’t understand why you would link to an article which is essentially rehashing things that have already been covered at various points under the guise of informing people ‘who don’t know about them’. Of course they know - they clearly don’t care and want to buy labs anyway.

As for my ‘friend’, what on earth do you mean?
