Lab grown Diamonds - Thoughts?

True. However, now there’s a new scam where the numbers for real diamonds are also being put on lab-grown diamonds. The real diamond gets sold on with its certificate, and then there’s also a fake diamond with a fake certificate for sale, too.
Are you talking about mined diamonds and lab-grown diamonds? Lab-grown are “real” not “fake”. We all have to just get over it.

Oh I’ve heard it as well from my jeweler. Scary! Especially considering dropping prices of lab diamonds.

If they are real, how is it possible that there is technology that can distinguish between a lab-grown and natural diamond? They’d be 100% identical in every way. No person and no piece of equipment would be able to tell the difference … and yet with the right equipment, they can.
You can over that, but I can’t.

Diamonds, both lab and mined are just pieces of carbon. One has slightly different characteristics not-to-be-seen-with-the-naked-eye so it’s no wonder mined diamond prices are cratering. I’m so over it and have shifted my jewelry focus to beautiful high quality gold pieces.

I know what diamonds are, thanks for the explanation anyway! Having said that, good for you, I’m happy for you.

My first pair of lab studs will be on their way soon! 0.9 carats each, (1.8 total), colorless, VS2, hearts and arrows. Natural diamonds with similar specs would cost 10x the amount, so this was a no-brainer for me because I have to budget for my pieces.

I got some very small Tiffany dbty studs recently as well (natural diamonds, maybe .14 total carats?). They are beautiful too, and a much different look than my larger martini-set labs.

We’re all lucky to be able to choose! I will probably continue to mix and match lab and natural depending on the piece and how I want to prioritize my budget.

May I ask where did you order them from?
Mine comes from light box but they are limited in sizes

A lot of diamond vendors sell labs in addition to naturals - Whiteflash, Blue Nile, Jame Allen, Brian Gavin.

If you are really interested, and have time and patience, choosing your own pair by yourself is pretty cost effective.

If you want ease + guaranteed quality, I’d recommend reaching out to Whiteflash or Brian Gavin. They can help you pick from their pre-paired inventory and set them for you. It’ll be a bit more expensive but it will be convenient and you can trust that you’ll get gorgeous studs.

If you want to go deeper, there’s another online forum that focuses a lot more on diamonds. You’ll find a ton of info there.

Thanks. I did not realize that Blue Nile sold lab now. Wow!
