Sorry for the double post, and also sorry for going on about JP fashion in a SK fashion thread lol

Another thing I've noticed is how big men's fashion is in Japan. For example, if I search "fashion" in Japanese online I'll mostly get hits for men's fashion, whereas in English it's almost all women's fashion. Men definitely care more about fashion here and I'll see more men regularly talking about it/researching about it online. Plenty of men's fashion YTers too. On the other hand, the info for women's fashion in Japanese can be a bit limiting. There are some forums/YT channels about it but there's a big focus on cheap clothes. Not that there aren't women interested in luxury fashion, you'll see some expensive pieces on Wearista n stuff, but again if I try to search for info on luxury brands for example on YouTube in Japanese it's almost all men's fashion. It's difficult to find women who are interested in it... Again, most people just default to UNIQLO lol. There really is no store that I can think of in the US (where I grew up) that has the power of UNIQLO or even close to.

Wonder about SK? My impression is that men there also put care into their fashion.

As a Korean-American living in a Seoul now, I would say most Korean men care about fashion. It's the lookism. Sometimes it seems they only care about the luxury brand names. But I have seem men who dress well formally and wear a well-coordinated outfit. They're also particular about cars. So many high end European brands are in the street. Most of my guy cousins here only drive European cars like BMW and Audi.

It's a bit hard to discuss South Korean fashion as its own thing because I think there's a lot of different influences. Styling in K-dramas seem to be more inspired by European styling than Japanese but I don't know what the regular people wear out on the street. I like it though.

Going off on observation of what people post on YouTube: I've never seen Chinese people wear any exclusively "Chinese" brands. It's either a mix of Japanese, South Korean or European brands. However, you see South Korean fashion vloggers mix the local brands with European ones. The last time I was in Taiwan, I think it was more of a mix between Western styles and Japanese styles. There was some interest in South Korean clothing but they don't seem to like the body-hugging silhouettes you see the K-actresses or the idols wear, nor quite as bold. Walking around the tourist traps in Taipei, people thought I was Korean, but apparently it was my choice of makeup that gave them that impression.
