He automatically becomes King, but from what I can tell The Queen was crowned over a year from her Father's death, so goodness only knows when a coronation will take place...?

I believe that the royal protocol requires a year of mourning for the passed monarch before the celebration of coronation may take place.

I remember a lot of talk about Charles being bypassed in favor of William. Since it seems the crown is automatically going to Charles, why was there so much talk about William? Did that always include Charles abdicating?
One thing I’ve learned since reading TpF, gracious thanks to @papertiger. Only a King or Queen can abdicate. The rest need to renounce the position. So, all Hazzi needs to do is sign the papers saying “I renounce my position as blah blah”. Then he is out and the rest of the world can move. The King has leverage to make this happen. Personally, I am hoping he flexes these muscles.

The talk about moving William up was just that ‘talk’. Charles will not abdicate. To move William up, Charles would have needed to renounce his position while QE was alive. He would never have done that. He well understood the pain the Duke of Windsor caused when he abdicated. Charles would never that to his Queen, his country or himself. He is devoted to service, duty and his country. He may, though, have a short reign, but he won’t abdicate. My opinion only.

From now on the national anthem will be:

God save our gracious King!
Long live our noble King!
God save the King!
Send him victorious,
Happy and glorious,
Long to reign over us:
God save the King!
Oh my goodness. In Canada, as a kid, we used to sing God Save the Queen before school started and this will be so odd for a bit. I'm glad you reminded me!

Wishful thinking. People didn't like Charles and they just hoped he'd pass the crown along to Will.

I think Charles will be a good King. I hope he is for many years.

I feel like it was gossip spread by the public because Prince William was more well received than his father was. Prince Charles took a big hit in the publics eye with his divorce with Diana and then marrying a divorce/mistress. I think that he’s worked hard in the past 10 years on changing the publics perception of him. He absolutely wouldn’t hand the job over to his son. He complained about how his mom wasn’t very present growing up because she was so busy working. Prince William has 3 little kids he would never want them to go though what he did. He will be just like his mother and work until the end allowing William to be a dad as long as he can. I’m sure Prince Williams work load is already increasing as he is now the next in line.

Privy Council will be televised tomorrow - a first!

Now that Charles is King, he es no longer Prince of Wales, I think.

Will William nun become Prince of Wales?
And will there be an investiture celebration?

Who knows about this?

William is already Duke of Cornwall now, as I have read.
