I am 5'1" and have 25 and 32 - both are marvelous. it really depends on so many things - your personal style, what you want to carry and the bag itself (color, leather, etc.)

My 32 is a lovely slouchy black kelly and my 25 is a jewel of a rouge vif. both retourne. We used to have tiny tiny tPFers carrying 35s and 40s looking cool.

Hi everyone

I’m new to the Hermes world and am looking to buy one preloved!! I would love to see photos of 5’1 with the Kelly 25 & 28 sizes. I’m a bit nervous that the 28 will be too big… any insight is greatly appreciated
You need to consider how you intend to use the bag. i.e. what you need or wish to carry in it.
If trends are important to you, the consensus is that larger bags are coming back into fashion.
How much time are you going to be standing in a modelling pose where the proportions of the bag against your frame are going to be judged?
The dimensions of the various sizes are readily available and the Kelly is a simple shape.
I suggest you get some cardboard and make a 3d mock-up that you can hold against your body.
Doing this helped me avoid a mistake with a Bolide that I was considering and would not have been the right size for the purpose I intended .

I still think a bigger kelly makes my butt look smaller. For some on this thread, that is obviously not a consideration, but it makes me feel better lol. Though when I dress up for a cocktail or special dinner, even a 25 can look bulky

ETA: now if there was only a kelly size that made me look taller with bigger boobs :P
agree with @Hillychristie that hand carry helps

That’s what I ALWAYS say!!! Bigger the Kelly, smaller the butt. you look good in all sizes though, so no worries there!

ha ha

it's got to be black black black all the way then

In my honest opinion, wear the size that suits your lifestyle haha the size of the bag really doesn’t matter to me like the size of a shoe or a dress does. I don’t think one can wear too big or too small of a bag (unless it’s like a black tie formal event) as it’s what you need in a utilitarian sense.

I, for one, am 5 foot tall lol maybe about 5’1’’, 5’2’’- 5’4’’ depending on the height of my shoes but my most used sizes are 32 for kelly’s and 35 for birkins and to be honest I’ve never really found them too big. I think many people make 32s and 35s bigger than it really is. I mean I’ve heard many friends talk about 35s and 32s like they’re oversized luggages but 10 years ago when Celine phantom large were the it bags I never heard those friends complain about it’s size. It just shows that many are too focused on trends they forget style is more important when it comes to aesthetic and utility. But if you were worried about trends, larger bags are coming back:) and a kelly in whatever size will never go out of style so wear what you love:)

I wish I could still get an additional 4 inches of height from my shoes but post-pandemic it’s never going to happen lol (speaking from a city that was one of the most locked-down in the world and we all lived in trainers for three years). Back OT, I agree with everyone that you should buy the bag you love and that works practically for your lifestyle. Otherwise it will just sit unused.

Never say never! Sorry if this is going out of topic but I just want to tell you you can still get the height with comfort! I’m going to let you in on my dirty little secret lol on regular days I wear heels - mostly louboutin, vivier, Blahnik, and Chanel the highest I wear are normally 85mm as that’s the maximum height I can tolerate nowadays like this photo I posted last week in the action thread (85mm louboutin if I’m not mistaken)D9362DE7-3CB7-4D6D-93B6-A3F954603F9F.jpegOn days I’m feeling brave for like a date night or a restaurant only engagement, I bring out my 100-115mm. Gone are the days I can wear my 120mm louboutins though I still use them for photo ops as it really elongates my legs. But my secret to looking taller when wearing outfits that barely show my shoes are the Gucci Sally platform wedge I discovered several years ago. Yes, I don’t like how it looks and I had no intention of buying them but I tried it on for fun as they looked ridiculous but ended up buying two pairs just for when I break it. I had to buy them even if I’m not a fan of platform shoes because it’s the only shoe that gives me the height and comfort. So if you really want the height and are into clothes that barely show your shoes, this is a good shoe to buy lol and platform heels are coming back as I’ve seen Valentino and Tom Ford bring back those crazy high towering heels.

This was taken by my son on the day I tried them on for fun lol isn’t it ridiculous but I love that I’m 5’6” when I wear this.

Victoria Beckman supposedly always carries bigger bags to make herself look smaller. So it makes sense.

Couldn't have said it better myself!

Was going to comment the same exact. Buy what you love and will suit your comfort/lifestyle/purpose for the bag. Any size/height/weight can honestly rock any bag size. It's how you perceive it and how confident you are carrying it.

I love this!! Crazy platforms ARE coming back. I see them in boot form for now but when S/S hits I think sandal platforms are in again. I can now take out my crazy Hogan Maxi 222's, Pedro Garcia wedges and (gasp) my old YSL tributes!

I would 100% follow a thread about "Shoes (by any brand) to make you taller, so you can wear bigger Hermès bags" :flowers:
