Oooo. I kept looking for the UPS guy yesterday, hoping to head him off before he rang the doorbell. Didn't work. Doorbell rang, I went out and picked up the box, and there was my husband... "What did you buy now?" :shame:

lol, i just found this thread & am rolling on the floor :roflmfao: ...don't worry girls, i think most of us have been there once or twice (or more :shrugs:) before!!!

I met the UPS man driving up the road last night. And my son has learned to grab and run and hide boxes from UPS.

OMG, i think this one is even funnier, i hope you don't mind me laughing :tender:...it's only because i can totally relate (although, my DH doesn't mind the "selling" part so much :p)

okay, now my stomach hurts, BooYah-girl , don't teach that boy english sweetie, whatever you do!!!

I live with my mother and she's always freaking when something comes in the mail for me. I have all my packages delivered to work now and hide them for a while. When she finally sees a new bag I act like I've had it and it's not new.

And I thought I was the only one who had to hide things!! My DH gets crazed when he sees the UPS or Fed Ex truck. I try really hard to use only Fed Ex, though, b/c they usually come earlier in the day so he's not home from work yet.

This is a relief to know that others are going through the same thing. I wondered what was wrong with me for shopping and wrong with him for caring. Now I realize I'm just like everybody else! Thanks for the thread!!!!

Now if there was some way I could also hide the CC bill!

I hate it when things come UPS because they always come late in the afternoon/evening. I work as a personal assistant so I sometimes say it is for my clients. I do shop for them so it is possible. The hard part is then acting like I have no interest in opening it. My 4 yo loves to tell Daddy "Mommy got a present in the mail today". One of the unfortunate side effects of our kiddies growing up.

hee hee ... I don't even buy name brand purses (yet) and he flips out if I buy a new one. I've never even spent more than $75 on a purse and he still thinks I spend too much on them.

Now, beads, I don't even try to hide those purchases from him anymore. He just rolls his eyes when something new is delivered. hee hee

This is so fabulous!! Some of you are doing the exact same things I do -- especially keeping new items in the background, then when your mom sees you with them for the first time, saying "oh, I've had this for ages, it's old!"

Some of your other stories had me almost falling out of my chair laughing -- like the three year old grabbing and hiding :roflmfao:

Meanwhile, some terrific suggestions! I really like this notion of having packages delivered to my department. Must investigate getting my paypal addy changed...

Keep the stories comin if you got em:yes:

I know my UPS guys so well that they don't even bother ringing the door bell anymore. When my husband is in another room, I grab the package and throw it in the nearest closet to open later.

This one you can't use all the time, but I've even told him that I must have ordered/bought it several months ago... must have been on backorder and I forgot all about it... just now getting it.

When my daughter (who is now an adult) sees a package outside, she'll hide it and tell me later where she hid it. She's been doing that for years!

I have most of my stuff delivered to me at work. It's a small office so luckily they don't care. My SO tends to give me a hard time when I get alot of packages in a row at home and I just don't want the hassle. Peggy

I uusally have most things delivered to me at work because I don't like worrying about precious packages sitting out on our porch. The only problem with that is my coworkers tend to get nosy about it. They're always asking "What'd you buy now?"

The husband doesn't mind much anymore (hey it's my money! lol) but I've used all the 'excuses' posted above once or twice hehe. ;)

OHEMGEE! That is exactly what I do! For me, the main thing is to find out exactly what time the postal service comes, that way I can sneak out and get it before the BF comes home. He put me on a no "buying restriction"; it's become a "no buying that he knows about" restriction!

My 16-year-old was having his birthday party last night and the UPS man came at 7 p.m. I heard the doorbell ring and so did no. 1 son and no. 3 daughter (big mouth).

No. 3 daughter is first and starts saying out loud "Jill....." as she reads the return address.

No. 1 son who is wise to the ways of his mother grabs the box, tells her to be quiet and I am on his heels -- all three of us are on the doorstep fighting over this box!

I take it into the nearest room (her's), open the closet and throw it in. She comes trotting in asking who Jill is and why did she send me something.

I hissed at her: "it's another purse!"

This was after explicit instructions I gave the UPS man when I met him coming up into the development not to ever knock on our door and where he was supposed to hide the box.

I am running out of lives and about to be busted. I can feel it. I have three more boxes coming within the next week and the odd's are catching up with me. I have been too lucky so far.

PHH has only noticed the mombasa just because it's so unusual. the rest....I tell him that I've had forever.
