there are a couple of marc jacobs flap bags out right now that made me do a triple take when i walked by a store windo... once you look closely you see they are NOT chanel but... there have been chanelesque bags around for many many years but some of the recent ones really make me go ew. like didn't someone put a candee's bag up that had reissue hardware--that one was ridiculous.

What Hermes chains? I don't recall ever seeing any chains on H bags, but I haven't seen them all.
But, as you probably know, Kate and her husband sold the brand off years ago to NM. Now Liz Claiborne owns the brand. I believe Kate Spade has no creative control anymore or you would be seeing the clean, non-embellished designs she was so famous for. It's a shame to watch one's own name take such a fashion hit. A real shame.

Oh well, Chanel inspired bags have been around for decades, and designers have been copying each other for ages. No surprise that others want to cash in on the Chanel magic. I really can't say I blame those bags... I just feel sorry for them. If I had to be a crappy bag, I'd be a Chanel wannabe too!

I've only seen 'inspired' bags with reissue hardware, albeit with low quality fabric/leather. The colors certainly canNOT hold a candle to the real deal, so be happy with the authentic pieces that you girls own! :love:

I see Chanel inspired items up here in Aberdeen a lot. Quilted bags with chains, the "classic" pumps, J12s look-alikes and the Chanel jackets.

I definately wouldnt buy them but the teens/early twentys up here do.

^ Some of us in our early 20s have better taste tho :p lol.

A small number of my friends don't even know who or what Chanel is. Maybe it's because we don't have a store here (boohoo!).
