jewelry Regrets

What I regret the most are all Swarovski items I've bought in the past;

As for fine jewelry, I've just started a year ago with my collection and don't have any regrets so far. The only thing is that I've bought 2 DBTYs from Tiffanys, one in RG and one in PT (I loved the RG so much that I've decided to purchase a PT one as well - Initially I've only planned to buy the RG). And now I prefer the PT over the RG because imo the diamond looks nicer ("cleaner") with a white metal than colored metal. I still love the RG and these two still differ from the type of style (RG having a thicker bezel and being more V-shaped than U-shaped), but if I were to choose again, I'd probably save the money of the RG DBTY for a future C de Cartier or DLDC, or even for something completely different.

I regret buying a ring or two, not for aesthetic reasons but for practical reasons. I think it's mainly due to hand washing, especially when the pandemic hit. When it comes to rings I prefer low maintenance. I do have a few ring holders placed throughout the house and when I'm washing up I take all my rings off, otherwise I usually keep them on when washing my hands and any high-ish settings makes me have to think about it - it becomes a bit of a pain tbh. I don't care if they're the most fantastically awesome rings going, if I have to take them off every time I wash my hands, it's a "no" from me.

I regret my white gold jewelry I can wear both metals but I now prefer yellow gold mostly. For some reason YG seems more glamorous to me
I had my diamond wedding band reset from its original 80s yellow gold to a similar setting but in white gold about 15 years ago when my engagement ring was upgraded. Sometimes I regret it, but YG seemed out of style at the time. I think generally I look better in WG/platinum but I find myself attracted to YG jewelry lately.

1. Buying so many costume jewelry pieces, particularly from low-quality houses like Chanel.

2. I went through many phases, like the semi-precious stones phase, silver phase, etc.

3. Buying bags when I could have been buying fine jewelry.

4. Getting the small JUC and not realizing it was a size too large compared to my Love.

5. Giving away my old Tiffany silver jewelry to my sister-in-law when I should have saved them for my daughter.

Chanel has me there! I love their trinkets, even when I know they are fake pearls selling as real ones… lately some cheap and plastic necklaces that no one should buy. Oh but how I love the necklaces

I sincerely regret the VCA pieces I sold. They no longer worked for me at the time & although they have not been discontinued, my husband doesn’t like VCA so I can’t see me repurchasing. Still so sad about it
While I only have one vca item, I love the posts of others wearing vca. I am not very careful with my jewelry and always opt for very dog proof jewelry that can’t be torn off or pulled with clothes etc. I would love the Alhambra necklace in diamond-one can dream

What is it?
It's a two piece wishbone engagement and wedding ring that fit into each other. The main stone that sits at the tip of both rings is a marquis with smaller round stones running down the sides. We had it custom made, I was never happy about the way the band was designed and it was so pointy it was dangerous when I had my babies so I never wore it after that. I believe that style is back now.

my biggest and all time regret is buying so, so, so many costume jewelry which are now collecting dust literally. i did not buy fine jewelry considering the high price, while i should have bought fine jewelry instead of these many costume jewelry, also i am homebound now, so nowhere to actually wear and use those costume jewelries, before i used to go out to office everyday and thus i bought so many of them matching with my everyday clothes

Ugh I feel your pain. I did the same years ago. Custom everything. It was in, I was in. I spent crazy money on custom (lots of fresh water pearls also). It was really hard to part with them and not much of a resale market. I was able to donate a lot to a local women’s charity club. I have only retained custom Chanel pieces. I do also regret the amount of money I spent on the custom pieces. 😭

I have no regrets about anything I have bought. I have fine jewelry that I bought 30 or 40 years ago and I still love it! My taste has been consistent throughout my life, so that eliminates regrets.

I have regrets about things I did not buy. I buy most of my jewelry at auction. I am disciplined and stick to my limit. I have missed out on a number of items that I really loved and wanted—but the bids went too high and I had to drop out. These are things that I have never seen again. 😢 I just missed out on a necklace that I really wanted last week. It still stings, but I’ll get over it. 😜
