Jewelry box ideas?

It used to be that my jewellery and watches were stored in their respective boxes inside a home safe. This then makes me lazy to switch my jewellery and watches.

So, I went to buy a good jewellery box. Roomy enough to store all my jewellery and some watches (not that I have a lot, just a modest collection), yet small enough to go into a closet drawer under lock and key. So, my jewelleries are now easily accessible.

This way, I get to change my jewellery and watches easily, to match my outfits or moods. It's working out well, except, (touch wood) should my home be burglarised, my entire collection would be gone! :sweatdrop:

No pics as it's just a typical jewellery box bound in leather, with drawers, compartments squares and rings holder.

It's good to be able to see what you have: that's what I'm aiming for too. But, goodness, I hope you don't have a break in. Keeping the lovely things locked is a good idea :/

The tacklebox cracks me up! My mom keeps all of her pricless jewels in old bandaid boxes. She says no one would ever take bandaid boxes if they were robbing them. She's always telling me, "dont let them throw away the bandaid boxes when I die!"

memory-thanks! tehehe i love it too!
imashopaholic- thanks! that is why, i put most of my chanel costume jewelry inside these boxes, but for precious ones, its kept in its original box.
tiffanystar- thanks! yea the glass really is helpful when im in a rush!
Dallas Socialite- thats a smart way! its like how my mother installed a small vault inside the drawer of the laundry room! haha

Anyone know a good place to buy a jewelry box? I like the one that sephora sells but I don't really want to shell out 90 bucks for a box. Something more along 30 or 40 is more in my price range. I'm looking for something really durable as BF and I move over twice a year.

Here is a little one. It can be kind of cute, I suppose, and its small so if you travel to places a lot, you can def. take it with you very easily. But if you are a huge jewelry collector with lots and lots of gems and such, I guess it would be too small. http://www.everyjewelrybox.com/Mele-451-11M-RV1103.html
This is twenty dollars over your price range, but my jewelry box looks somewhat like this, except the top on mine opens up with a mirror and ring space and there's more drawers. http://www.everyjewelrybox.com/Mele-433-11-RV1045.html
This one is very basic and cute, at fifty four dollars. http://www.everyjewelrybox.com/Mele-0075211-RV1157.html
Here is a tiny, more quaint white one for fourty six dollars. http://www.jewelryboxdirect.com/productdetails.asp?cat_id=64&ProductID=37&ProcessType=1
I think that this one is VERY cute and basic, kind of simple though, but it is a lot over your price range. http://www.potterybarn.com/products/p10577/index.cfm?pkey=caccjbxher
This is supersmall but it's yellow and very cute, if you only have a few peices of jewelry...it goes for twenty dollars. http://www.amazon.com/Jewelry-Rings...1_32?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1213586004&sr=1-32
This one is good for travel, but it is very basic. It's probably not what you're looking for, but the outside of it is very neat looking. http://www.amazon.com/Engraved-Anti...1_76?ie=UTF8&s=jewelry&qid=1213586105&sr=1-76
You can also buy locks for your jewelry box, and certain lightweight boxes just for rings or watches. Well, good luck. :smile1:

great post. DF and i were cleaning our room when i realized... i couldnt find my jewelery box with my most precious meaningful jewelery. i freaked!! an hour later i found it. (haha) and we were reorganizing everything and adding new stuff into their proper boxes. (i have different jewelery boxes for different thing. one box for all the gifts DF gives me, then all the stuff i get myself, and all the stuff my family and friends get me. haha and within each one its all divided by metal type. haha.) as i was adding things, i realized... i ran outta space!! time to buy another jewelery box and fill it up with more beautiful things!! haha!! i could also use this thread for ideas for myself!!

oddly enough, Pottery Barn had some really cute practical ones around the beginning of the year. I'd check there. I bought my DD one from Pottery Barn Kids.
