Bearing in mind her Dads penchant for touching up her ex husband and having relationships with barely legal young men and making sexually inappropriate comments about his own children (showing that he has very questionable morals of what is acceptable - not because he's gay, to be very clear), I'm not sure whether it might not be a huge leap to say he knew exactly what was happening or even was possibly guilty of some abuse of others himself. Doing and saying nothing at all to your childs abuse is not a normal reaction.

In hindsight it seems obvious now why Nick always seemed deeply uncomfortable around him

It is an important topic , molestation by a woman toward a woman and she is brave for coming out.
Never thought of her as someone with an addiction, I thought of her as a party girl.
Plus, I am always impressed with her shoes/accessories/clothing, it is well priced and good quality.
Who can be mad at the chicken of the sea girl, no Ma’am’.

This may be a bit of a stretch but I wonder if that’s the reason why her father always seemed to pick on Nick. Like he wasn’t good enough for his daughter. Maybe he was secretly in love with him! There was tension between Nick and her dad at times for sure. What we saw was a guy in love with his wife and overall it seemed like a great relationship of balance and love. It was cute how practical he tried to be because she loved spending money. I’ll never forget the time she purchased expensive sheets. Lol

The father was always a complete freak and suspect, imho.
The way he conducted his life, then and now, I strongly believed that he “pimped” his daughters or even worst.
One of my college friends once told me that her uncle said that she had curves at all the right spot , i was like what now?
and sure enough the POS had been molesting her for years.
When Jessica’s dad spoke about her DD, this showed his sleaze and nastiness.
Between her and Britney, it is freaking heartbreaking.

Nick would have been the right age, he has a thing for younger men.

Nick said that Joe used to touch him at family events. When asked what the best thing was about not having Joe as a FIL anymore he said 'not having to play grab ass under the table anymore with him' or words to that effect.
