Wonder if she had gestational diabetes which can lead to really large babies. My goodness that baby is huge.

as far as i know if gestational diabetes is not controlled (diet or, worst case scenario, insulin) then babies can be born very large
with her $$$ i would be surprised if she had gestational diabetes and no treatment
i had GD w my first born and was on a extremely controlled diet and my BGLs where monitored strictly

Yeah I’m sure she had treatment IF she did have GD, but the treatments don’t always work if the mommy isn’t doing her part with the dieting and JS definitely is a big foodie lol
My friend had GD last year and while she was on meds and getting treatment/monitored closely by Dr, she failed to restrict her food intake and her son was also born over 10 pounds. She was actually the one that made me wonder if JS had a similar situation.

I had an 11-1/2 lb baby at 38 weeks via c-section. I had a gestational diabetes test that came back as normal, but I was measuring way too big, so they sent me in for the three hour test anyway. Normal. They did an ultrasound and determined baby was far too big and the doctor did not believe the tests. They drew blood to test for GD at EVERY. SINGLE. VISIT. after that, but every single one came back normal.

My DH is 6'8", so I blame him!

So none of us can know whether Jess had GD or not, nor guess at how well she may have controlled it if she did, but I just wanted to point out that a person can have huge babies without having GD.

No one said she was sick or had diabetes.

I simply made a comment and said I “wonder” and “IF she had it...” never said she did and never said it was the cause of her large baby or that is the ONLY way to have a large baby. :whut:

I had a 9 pound baby myself and was perfectly healthy and gained only about 27-30 pds my whole pregnancy & kept a healthy diet the whole time. My husband and I are also both very slim.
So, yes, common sense that diabetes isn’t the only cause of large babies
Was just making conversation since this is a gossip thread right?! Lol
